Any interest in a very nice 5 speed E28 535i(s)?
I know there have been some posts here about the E28 (1983-88) 5 series, and they have somewhat of an "enthusiast" following.
I have 4 cars right now, and am getting a fifth shortly. So the herd needs to be culled a bit. So I'm *thinking* about selling my 535. My 535i is somewhat unique. It has been in our family since new. My uncle (my dad's brother) bought it new at Vasek Polak BMW in Hermosa Beach (L.A. area) in 1986. I remember the day he bought it, I was 20 years old and a huge BMW fan. (I also remember he paid a small fortune for it back then, I think it was close to $35K out the door). He sold it to me around 1993, with around 59,000 miles on it. I've owned it and used it as a daily driver since. It now has 177,000 miles on it. It is unusual these days to find one that has been in the same family since new. Because we've had it since new, I can guarantee you it has NEVER been in any accident. The paint on all the panels is 100% original (other than on the IS spoilers, which were added to the car, and the mirrors, which were painted to match). It has never had any body repair of any kind, guaranteed. It has never been driven or taken outside the So. Cal. area. Always been in the LA/OC area. It has been garaged and covered since new. It is probably the only E28 left that does not have a single dash crack. The wheels are genuine BBS RS 3 piece, in 16 x 6 and 7. Most 535s have had their wheels changed because they used TRX wheels and tires when new. The rear tires are a few months old, I have brand new front tires which have not been mounted yet. It is a 535i, but it has the "is" options, including the front and rear spoiler, and sports seats. It also has an M5 steering wheel. And European headlights. Other than that, it is stock. This is of course a 22 year old car with 177,000 miles on it, so it's not new. But it probably is nicer than 99% of the remaining E28 535s out there these days. It has just received a Major Service. Plugs, cap, rotor, valve adjust, brake fluid flush and bleed, coolant flush, air filter, fuel filter, etc. It has 750iL front suspension bushings, so it doesn't have the classic front end shimmy a lot of these cars have. Let me know if anyone is interested. I'm thinking $5900 is fair. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Very nice, clean E28! Not many in that condition anymore. I'll trade you my Saab for it.
![]() One family since new is very unique. Try posting on myE28, Roadfly, and Bimmerforums.

I've owned 2 E28s, a 528e and a 533i w/ 5-speed. They're awesome cars if maintained like yours. If no one here snatches it up, I'd put it on eBay. It will absolutely sell for your price, (or more), if the pictures and description are good enough. The dollar is being used for toilet paper in England and Europe right now, there is a smoking hot market for exceptional German used cars. Just make sure to check the box saying that you will sell to Europe on the listing form.
I've studied eBay quite a bit, drop me a PM if you want to talk about marketing it for maximum $$.

I've owned two 535i's - truly a joy to drive.
This one looks beautiful. Good luck with your sale, and to the (hopefully for you) happy new owner. Great car. Lots of smiles!

Thanks for the nice compliments! It has been a great car, I wouldn't have driven it for 15 years if it wasn't! My wife actually did most of the daily driving in it from '93 to '01, I've taken it over since '01. They are really neat cars, from kind of (IMO) the "Golden Era" of European cars.
