Left. Next question.

Right, unless it is a new model, but unlikely.

The Hour hand on the GMT looks a little bit off but that might be the angle the pic was taken at.

Here is a Closer Look

Left is also wrong...

All are automatics. All sweep. All have that distinctive fast tick. One thing that stands out is the feel of the winding motion - the fake has less clicks per turn.

I paid $10,000. Is my Rolex fake?

For those of you that think one or more is a fake - please support your answer with Rolex Lore/Fact...

middle one. looks authentic without too much flash.
What do I win?

badcar 05-12-2008 03:24 PM

All three are fake.....at least all 6 of mine are.

right. I have never seen a see through face displaying the mechanical workings and the bracelet appears to try to mimick the look of a jubilee band but it fails.

Never mind I switched my vote for the one on the left...

speedracing944 05-12-2008 03:36 PM

on the watch on the left the cyclops is laking the proper magnification.

Speedy:)

1) The bezel on the left is from a GMT-Master (sort of), not any Submariner I've seen.

2) If you are going to stamp out Rolex replicas, why would you duplicate an Air King? Most fakes are Presidents or other easily identifiable Oyster Perpetuals.

Wrong bezel on Sub. No open dial Presidents with no day/date afaik for the right one. Without seeing in person and holding it, could not tell if the middle one is bad. Pretty easy to tell a fake when you have it in hand.

yeah the bezel on the left has Submariner numbering, but is GMT colored.

And I don't think the bezels are interchangeable since GMT bezels rotate both directions and Sub bezels only rotate counterclockwise.

As for the one on the right, I've never seen an open faced Rolex, but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist.

I've always liked the simplicity of the Air King, but yeah, not typical fodder for counterfeiters.

cl8ton 05-12-2008 05:02 PM

All 3 are real! No fakes.

Moses 05-12-2008 05:09 PM

The Oyster on the right looks like an Air King with an unusual face. I'm not saying it's a fake, I'm just saying I've never seen one like that.

billh1963 05-12-2008 06:06 PM

Left looks fake. As earlier posters have said the bezel insert is for a "pepsi" GMT and the magnification looks off. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the size of the hour indicators on the dial but it's hard to tell from pics. The one on the right I have never seen anything like that. If the Air-King is fake it's pretty good.

I've owned at least 30 Rolexes over the last few years. I'm pretty good at spotting fakes if I can see it/hold it in person.
