And what about the VujaDe feeling ... the feeling that what is happening now never happened before .... (thanks to George Carlin for the concept) :-)

Gogar 05-17-2008 09:58 AM

Have you ever had a Deja Vu of a Deja Vu?

The distinct feeling you've had this same feeling of being here before.

svandamme 05-17-2008 10:15 AM

I can dig the deja vue explanation, i've had many instances of them, not so much lately... and since i've eaten plenty of lsd in my days, i know the mind can play tricks(had dv before ever taking lsd, so that's not the origin of dv)

but when i was 7 years old, Jozef my nephew and best friend accidentally hung himself playing cowboy and indians by himself... he was in a coma and had been for 3-4 months...

one day, i wake up, felt weird, told my mum , that something was wrong with Jozef
15 minutes later, my aunt calls us with the sad news that Jozef was gone...

i'm not superstitious, i wouldn't call myself clairvoyant or anything like that
but you have to admit, that's friggin strange, nephew was 100 miles away in a university hospital, and nobody else had called that morning, it was literally me waking up, instantly telling my mum something was wrong, and then that call from my aunt...

it was pretty much a one off event, it's not like i had multiple instance like this
i've had times where i felt something was wrong ,and even that i knew with what or who, but those turned out to be false alarms

Let's assume that 50% of kids who enter the coma state by asphyxiation will die within 100 days. Your chances of correctly "sensing" your nephews demise are about 1/200. If we assume that each coma victim has 10 friends/relatives that are upset by the circumstances, 1 in 20 coma cases will be characterized by an episode of "clairvoyance".

well, sure, but at 7 years old, you don't know about statistics like that
and you have to admit, it's a pretty sharp coincidence...

There is no magic (or spirituality), just physics and chemistry. You are a physical, organic being, accept and enjoy it.

At least once every two or three weeks, I pick up the phone and wait for my Mom or brother to call or my husband when I"m out of town. The phone will ring within 30 seconds. I've aleady got it in my hand and know who is calling, probably before they have even dialed the number on their end. No real pattern to calling time, some of these are morning, some evening, some afternoon. Not like it's everynight at 7:00pm pacific time...

I can't do this with anyone else - just those three people.

My Wife and I were going to paint the exterior of her Brother and Sis-in-laws house since we had a sprayer. The house was passed down to them from the Wife's family.

We get done painting and my Wife is talking to her SIL, and she says "your Mom spent a lot of time in the kitchen, did she always wear that "apron"?

She described the apron or housecoat her Mom used to wear all the time, she had seen "her" thru the kitchen window when she was working on that side of the house.

She's done this a few times and it always trips me out.

Well, your $1M is waiting. Why don't you apply at the site I posted earlier and claim it? Sounds like a cinch to me. :)

Was tearing up the Blue Ridge Parkway last week and came to a tight turn that's followed by a long straight, I usually exit the turn around 60 & stand on it.
Just before I get to the turn the mental pic of a Park Ranger SUV pops into my head & I slow to 50.
I make the turn & surprise there's a Park Ranger.

Your brain misfiled the first visual images of the SUV. A millisecond later, a similar image was properly filed. You had 2 discordant memories that your brain interpreted as a prescient event.

It happens that people that are close emotionally are in tune with each other and know what is happening with them even over great distances..

Moses just doesn't want to think about it.

It just so happens Mother has a habit of calling me when I am on the ****ter.

Simple coincidence plays a big role in perceived ESP experiences too. Coincidence coupled with the fact that humans tend to remember the times they were right and dismiss and forget the times they were wrong creates the illusion of clairvoyance.

Is that the Amazing Randi deal, sort of a latter day Houdini.

I have had some pretty improbable things happen to me, enough so that I am convinced that I have some modicum of these type of abilities. I am convinced, which is enough for me, I don't want to be on TV, and can't really do it consistently enough for it to be worthwhile.

Just because you don't understand how or why something works, or don't "believe" in it, does not mean it does not work. Perhaps the human brain has abilities that we have not discerned yet, there is a lot of wasted real estate up there.

You may be familiar with accupuncture or "Healing Touch". No reason they should work either, but they do.

I am disinclined to hold much stock in coincidences.

I am disinclined to believe in "magic"; I'm more a fan of Occam's razor. :)

Coincidences happen all of the time.

The million awaits one of you folks here with your "powers". :D

My special little voice never seems to hear opportunity calling, only mother...:(

Figures. You'd think it would at last chime in during an autocross and yell "LEFT LEFT LEFT - NO THE OTHER LEFT YOU ******* IDIOT!!!" SmileWavy
