I don't know either of those people. But the fact that the woman made such a outrageous statement and the idiot (interviewing?) her didn't jump down her throat ...is beyond comprehension!

DARISC 05-26-2008 11:52 AM

Trotta was the first woman to cover a war for broadcast news.

She's from some unspeakably disgusting sub-species of human being, in my opinion.

It seems to me there is a law against recommending assasination of a president. If so, does it also apply to presidential candidates?

At any rate, those of her dispicable ilk should somehow be permanently "put out of comission".

m21sniper 05-26-2008 11:52 AM

Why? She was clearly joking around- she even laughed.

PC much?

Nathans_Dad 05-26-2008 11:54 AM

Well, the whole point is that some are suggesting Hillary was saying that she would stay in the race "just in case" Obama was assassinated.

Of course, if you are talking about the comment "well both, if we could" then yeah, that is way out of line...

Do you think news programs should joke about killing Bush? Or how about a member of your family?

Well, in a perfect world..:D

Moses 05-26-2008 12:01 PM

Wow. Not funny. Not funny at all.

m21sniper 05-26-2008 12:04 PM

I have no problem with people making funny comments on a TV program. It didn't offend me in the slightest, and i chuckled right along with her. As far as killing Bush, there's not much point to that now. His damage is already done. ;)

Porsche-O-Phile 05-26-2008 12:05 PM

Who cares?

Such stupidity is expected from television. At least by me.

Well, if it was Saturday Night Live or some stand-up comedian that might be different.

Some of us would HOPE for higher standards. It's a (supposed) News Channel. Fair and Balanced???

Pathetic ...if either of those two are ever given time on the air again.

Well, definitely not! Nor should comedy shows like Fox News".

What about this guy?

Mo_Gearhead 05-27-2008 06:22 AM

Yes, we all (some months back) saw/heard Kennedy stumble over his name ...as the audience wonders (perhaps he was half in the bag?) With Kennedy (hic), that's a possibility.

But how does one RATIONALLY explain a (sober?) author saying it wouldn't be bad if they were BOTH taken out!!!?? (Giggle)

Then the Fox News 'talking head' passes over such a comment ...like he agrees???

Amazing shyt!

lendaddy 05-27-2008 06:27 AM

And now, the rest of the story.....

Mo_Gearhead 05-27-2008 06:45 AM

Yes ...she's "sooo sorry for her lame attempt at humor."

I guess that makes it all ok.

Golly, at least she didn't get really humorous and say he needed to be strung up by guys in white sheets.

We most certainly would have recognized her 'attempt at humor' then!

(and the male 'talking head' apparently immediately saw it as humor also, great minds thinking alike and all...)

nostatic 05-27-2008 08:31 AM

Good. She apologized. Now they can fire her in good conscience.

Professionals don't make "lame jokes" like that. Amateurs and idiots do. The latter do not deserve to work for a major network (that is governed by FCC regulations btw).

People have been fired for a lot less...

on2wheels52 05-27-2008 08:51 AM

It's not like I've been re-considering my decision to do without tv 30 years ago but it's nice to occasionally receive confirmation that I made the right decision.

Like Bill Maher lamenting that Cheney didn't die?

nostatic 05-27-2008 09:37 AM

Maher did get fired for his 9/11 comments. And that was as a talk show host/comedian, not as a "news person."
