happier topic. roller coasters.
this past weekend, driving past magic mountian outside of LA, my wife and i decided to stop on a whim. we dropped into a library, printed up some cheap tickets, and proceeded to do a roller coaster marathon. we took the money saved from the tixs, and paid for the flash pass, which let us "cut" to the front of the lines. i guess i am getting older, because i almost puked on Riddler revenge. one more corkscrew and i would have exploded. quick break on a bench in the shade, and off to another ride. fun. i drove home lightheaded and sick.
what are your favorites? for me, Goliath this weekend rocked. the initial drop was LONG. 255' straight down. |

Um - that's a complement, BTW. I would do the same. Kinda like eating the 100mph Chilli at Summit Point Raceway before going out to instruct a green student... (Been there, done that - and no chilli beans were tossed!) SmileWavy -Z |

Wife and I were in Anaheim in January. We decided we would stop by Magic Mountain while we were there.
They were closed. My reaction? I wanted to send a nasty-gram to them saying "Thanks a lot, Wally-World!" Little did I know... Magic Mountain WAS Wally World in the movie... |

If you were in Anaheim and decided to stop by Magic Mountain, I'm surprised that you found it at all. It's about 60 miles north, in Valencia.

I really liked the Superman at S/F New England. It goes about 70 MPH.

I do not know how Florida's parks stack up. At Islands of adventure, Incredible Hulk is fun and so are the Dueling Dragons.
Over at MGM Rock and Roller Coaster is fun as well and scores cool points for blasting Aerosmith in your ears the whole time. Over at Bush Gardens they have great coasters as well, I have been on all of them and 2 of them make me physically dizzy and unable to walk straight after getting off. Sea World is supposed to have some good ones now although I have never been on them. |
Hey vash, did you ride the Viper? That was the newer coaster the last time I went to MM. Something like 7 loops total. Crazy ride...I was like 30 yrs old and got weak knees when we were next to go...:) I didn't get dizzy or anything and thought it was a blast but now at 46 I'm guessing it will make me sick.

I have generally preferred the big, wooden coasters to the newer ones

fun! only thing really. the harness bar thing that comes over your head boxed my ears. hurt in the side G stuff. |
The California Screamer at Disney's California Adventure always makes me smile ear-to-ear. I love that coaster. Very much in the style and spirit of an old wood coaster, but it's steel framed and incorporates modern twists (an electromagnetic "launch" at the beginning rather than a conventional tug up a big hill & drop to get you going). They did a great job with that one.

I like the hulk at universal - and all three of the bush gardens - Sheikra, Kumba, Montu. http://www.dare2compare.com/
I rode Sheikra at my wife's company function four times in a row - I was the only one left that wanted to go again... :) |
