I have been seeing these in the parks over the past couple years. Bought one today on a whim. Less than $100.

I wish you luck. Sometimes the super easy park flier isn't that easy and can be discouraging. Look into the Slow Stick as well. $35 for the plane, it is rather sturdy and can take a bit of abuse. This one can be flown on a quiet street or local park as well.

that is the very plane i learned on. very pleasant to fly but it does require some space. be sure to launch into some wind and stay WELL clear of innocents.

as it happens the slowstick was my second plane. the $35 purchase price is like seeing a 911 for $12k; it's just the tip of the iceberg. be very careful as the slope is insanely slippery.

I bought a fmaller version of that plane for my oldest son. We didn't fair too well. The first flight, we lost control and it flew about a quarter mile into a condo complex. The next flight it crashed and burned. We added a bit of packing tape to teh damaged wing and will fly it again someday. It's hard to estimate the wind speed though and it always looks too windy.

Crashing is inevitable.. the only way I ever managed to make it work [after crashing my first 3 planes] was to buy a zagi http://www.zagi.com ... they're intended for dogfighting... while I have not yet fought with them, I can tell you that they are absolutely indestructible.
Very high quality and aerobatic too... even with a full throttle crash from 70 feet it just bounced, and flew again in 10 minutes after some minor winglet repair. keep in mind, that was probably from 80 mph +.

Just got back from my first flight. Pretty successful. I had a couple hard crashes, but only a bit of damage to the wing. Nothing that a bit of epoxy won't fix.

Out of the box, the plane is set up to climb pretty aggressively. Its really just a powered glider. Power on, it climbs, power off, you sail. I was pleased that I could grasp the dynamics of it. I have never flow one before. Adjusting the trim required some thought, but you have plenty of time with this model. Just gain a ton of altitude, and you can literally take you hands off the controls and it will just drift on its own.

I resist purchasing one of those every time I go into Harbor Freight.

This eflite blade is a must have to start in helis, so easy to fly compared to a tail rotor version it gets you up and going and replacement parts are cheap.
