I never said anything of the kind. You must be one of those commies. Where the heck is a good commission on un american activities when you need one.

Your words, not mine... The afore mentioned "contributors to society" proobably make more in one year than a soldier will make in a lifetime, thus my conclusion based upon your "point of view". Where did I get it wrong?

You do not give the soldier substandard care, but good care. The member of society, eg the president of the US gets the ultimate in care, care that it is not possible to give to everyone, because it is impossible to devote that many resources to everyone. Why? because he is worth 100,000 soldiers to society because of his great skills. The soldier cannot replace the president, but the president can replace the soldier, many times over.

In the case of a president is is clear who is worth more, but as you go down the food chain it gets less and less clear. No human can pick and choose the most valuable people, but economics can. Its not perfect, but it is much more reliable than some committee.

Do you want some loser that cannot even feed himself defending you or someone that can lead 1000 able bodied troupes into combat and win?

.

So...the President (that word is capitalized, by the way) gets payed 100,000 times as much as the average Soldier (that word is too, by the way)? Since, wealth is a measurement of value to society...

He should be.

Snowman, you just debunked your own argument regarding one's contribution to society vs wealth. The President gets paid a pittance compared to any 20 year old with athletic ability, not to mention other entertainment figures. You may be smart (and wealthy), but you are WAY out of touch with reality on some issues.

Who is to say that a good athlete is worth less than a president? I suspect that the money has it right.
