If all of the phrases on the previous page were banned, my colleagues from the left coast wouldn't have anything to say. Or my colleagues from the northeast for that matter too. At least it would mean quick meetings . . .

How about when layoffs are so commonplace that the term "right-size" becomes a verb. Mike: "What happened to Dave"? Suzie: "Oh, he was right-sized".

I use so much of that nonsense it's hilarious. I just finished a job on consulting. We all used it. My personal "can't stand" is the term "very respectfully" Military people sign emails that way. Or, they abbreviate it "v/r" and attach it to their signature. How respectful is that?

My manager (wife) pulled out "vis-a-vis" and "segue" one day a few years ago. I told her I didn't really know what those terms meant and would rather she not use them. I explained that I could add them to my 24 years of formal education but that she should realize that others, like me, found them rather presumptuous.

Management/business people learn a 'special' language I suppose. They can speak it amoungst themselves. Perhaps this is why me and my medical colleagues cringe when having to deal with administration.
