Condo Hitler!

Well, ladies and gentlemen the latest Condominium National Zocialist has reared his/her ugly hachencroize-tatooed head:

"John M. Madden will give up playing with his noisy 22-inch motorboat in the lake behind his Margate condominium, but that might not be enough to keep him afloat.

That's because the retired Boston police officer and great-grandfather plans to continue taking out his quiet, 22-inch battery-powered remote-controlled motorboat, he said Monday.

The noisy boat might have violated the city's code and resulted in fines of up to $250 a day. But playing with the quiet boat might violate Coral Gate Condominium documents that say no one may put a chair on the grass next to the lake or put a motorboat in the water.

Doing so could get him fined by his condo association, and at least one owner plans to press to enforce the bylaws.

Normy:

Why do we allow groups like this to exist? I sued a condo association in 1992 over the fact that they ripped out the screens on my patio...only to realize in court that they had very cleverly changed exactly one [1] paragraph of the condo bylaws the year before so that they weren't responsible for the expense of restoring my screens.

I lost that one, but I won in the end. The president of the board was this 72 year old man that I heard say "we don't want young people here!" one day. Me and him and the crew of workers that worked there went around and around, and eventually one of them made the mistake of telling me that he would "kill me" after an argument. I called the police, and they arrested him. THAT was the nail in the coffin for "Adolph" Ungarro, the condo national zocialist who thought that the whole complex was his property; He was thrown out of power a month later.

Someone poured acid on Ungarro's Mercedes 280 2-seat coupe. And at one point my girlfriend's Mazda was towed away from the parking lot, and the excuse:

"we didn't know it was hers!".

It's really sad that someone poured paint stripper on Adolf's Mercedes. That was such a nice car, and it appears that the culprit put just a little bit of stripper on each panel...

:D

OH, he loved that car sooooo much!

I guess you missed the part where this ******* had my girlfriends car towed away for no reason. He knew exactly who owned that car, it cost us $78 to get it back. He got what he had coming. I'm just seriously and totally surprised that nobody beat the old man's ASS. He certainly had it coming~

I'm such a nice guy...

I guess the perp was being considerate. If only select panels were vandalized the ins. co. wouldn't paint the whole car.

I bet the deductible is a lot more than $78.00 :)

Obviously no one here has tangled with Condo Nazi's or HOA Gods.

Good for you Normy, AFAIK the people that take over those groups are normally (not always) losers in life and this is their chance to torment other people.

I was just pondering our HOA this morning, we are not allowed pickup trucks , cars or vans with company names on them. Meanwhile this is a total blue collar neighborhood, my neighbor, the ex-president of the HOA and a total loser has a Sanford and son pickup truck in the drive with expired tags. But she is smart, its backed up against the garage door so you cannot see the tag if you tried.

I was surveying a condo on the beach a while back, the President of the Condo Association was talking to me (actually he hired me to mark the limits of their property) and I mentioned when my son got older I would like to sell my house and do the condo thing.

He asked me a couple of questions, is it quiet where you live? Does anyone bother you? No and No. Then he said stay where you are, dealing with these people is like dealing with a bunch of 5 year olds, all they do is sit around looking for something to fight over every day.

My HOA is pretty hands off for the most part, the only issue I have had is the work truck thing and if I had the time and energy I could probably band all the work truck owners in the subdivision together and get the rule nixed.

I don't care what a HOA does (I wouldn't live under "their" rules for anything), but it comes with the territory...the above post is twisted imo :(.

Oh, BTW , no matter how bad someone gets your goat, never mess with thier car, that is a man rule violation.

I have quoted this before and it seems to apply here as well. I think this sums it all up perfectly.

Pulp Fiction:

Quote:

Lance: Still got your Malibu?
Vincent: Aw, man. You know what some ****er did the other day?
Lance: What?
Vincent: ****ing keyed it.
Lance: Oh, man, that's ***ked up.
Vincent: Tell me about it. I had it in storage for three years, it was out for five days and some dickless piece of s**t ***ked with it.
Lance: They should be f**king killed. No trial, no jury, straight to execution.
Vincent: Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that **shole doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it.
Lance: What a ***ker!
Vincent: What's more chickens**t than ***king with a man's automobile? I mean, don't **** with another man's vehicle.
Lance: You don't do it.
Vincent: It's just against the rules.

We recently moved into a new neighborhood and I attended my first HOA meeting a couple of weeks ago. I was shocked at the arguing and pissing and moaning and the total disrespect (by the HOA president) for the rules of order and other people's feelings. What is going on here? Does power truly corrupt people this easily?

One older gentleman even talked for a few minutes about how the HOA board was in violation of TN law by holding HOA meetings in secret (not allowing HOA members to attend when business is being conducted) and also making decisions via email that are supposed to be voted on by the HOA members. He had well researched his position and presented his case very well. The president simply said, "Are you done talking yet?" and went on to something else.

BTW, they're already on to me because the condensing unit of my heat pump isn't completely screened from view (one of the covenants). I walked up and down the street and with the exception of two houses, no one's AC units are screened from view! (and some of these people have been there for as long as 2 years) I told the HOA that it is obvious that this covenant is not being enforced and I wasn't going to do anything about it. We'll see how that works out.

I love Pulp Fiction. The best movie quotes ever.

Norm, that wasn't very Christian of you.

HOAs make baby Jesus cry.

BeyGon 06-18-2008 08:01 AM

I live in a condo, I read the rules before I bought the place, if I didn't think I could live with it I wouldn't have bought it. It is like buying next to the airport and complaining the rest of your life. Get over it or move.

Porsche-O-Phile 06-18-2008 08:06 AM

Agreed. A full copy of by-laws is a required disclosure prior to closing on a condo or other property with an HOA. If you don't read them - entirely - ahead of time, you're an idiot.

That said, one can always try to get on the HOA board to change things. Or simply refuse to buy in an HOA community in the first place (I'm starting to look now in anticipation of good/affordable deals in the next 12-24 months and this is one of my stipulations - I won't buy in an HOA community at any price).

speeder 06-18-2008 08:09 AM

Wow. Someone confessing to felony vandalism on a public forum. That's a new one here.
