Not caused by, but clearly related to. Society places increasingly less value on marriage. Divorce is perfectly acceptable -- normal, even encouraged. "Marriage," defined for thousands of years as the union between a man and a woman, is now being broadened. Single people live together with no formal commitment. And girls get involved in this kind of nonsense, "Let's all get pregnant, whee!" There's no recognition that there _should_ be a family commitment before kids are involved, no recognition of the value of the stability of the old-fashioned family model.


It's another tragic sign of where we are, and the really sad part is that a most people will never make that connection.

EVERY 16 y/o Latina (and a few PWT) here has a baby. If they don't have a baby, they're pregnant. It seems a baby is an accessory, not unlike Paris Hilton's Chihuahua, cellphone or purse. If you don't have a baby, there is something wrong with you (as seen in the eyes of their peers). Whacked.

I did not know public schools were giving free pregnancy tests. Thats awesome. Are the parants alerted to the fact that their little angels are going in for repeated tests?

I have similar situations like this hitting close to home I have to be delicate as to what I say here as I am sure my posts are being read possibly by snoopy family members.

All I can say is crap like this taxes an entire family, right now half my house is sick with a virus because we babysit a nieces baby 2 days a week because the babies great-grandmother has been doing it and and we feel sorry for her so we are giving a break to her.

This is so the babies mommy can work for $8 an hour and barely eek out a living because she has no education, her mother (grandmother at 42) is not in much better shape and cannot help.

I could go on all day about how frustrating this all is.

When I lived in DC, the property manager in my Apt Bldg, was a Grandmother at 36. When I knew her, she was 40, and the daughter had 3 kids. She was married and she didn't have any children until 18. The daughter the same. Of course, this was nearly 16 years ago...So she's probably a great-grandmother now.

Quite a few of my friends got implants for graduation presents. If a girl wants to they know exactly how to dress to make themselves seem older.

Thats them alright, I was in shock when I read the original article they were from, I just told myself that I'.m way out of touch anymore. My wife who's a middle school teacher said it looked about right to her.

The age of "development" is getting younger IIRC, and the advertising to kids/trying to make them into adults is getting stronger.....Plenty of 15 y/o look like that. Haven't seen pushup bras too?
