In Sweden it would fetch the equivalent of $25-30k. But our prices are painfully high.

Tabs are you looking into buying a new car?
I would go with the Caymen.

Tabs, that car is likely in the range of $12 to 15 if it as pristine as represented. Check the mileage closely as it is easily spoofed or changed. The mileage sounds a little low for that year(car is over 25 years old)-does a lifetime average miles of 2500 per year sound likely? Glenn

I think higher teens. I sold my '83 SC less than two years ago for $20k and it had 100k miles on her, but was perfect and DE-prepped.

how do you take a picture in such a confined area like that, with the background blurred?

That is one weird photo. Looks photo-chopped or something. Thought it was a toy at first.

That car has been detailed by a used car salesman. I see things that I wouldn't normally see on a properly detailed car. You can't tell squat from a digital photo on the internet, anyway.
In person, the car may not be as pristine as you think. Inspect it yourself, even if that means jumping on an airplane. JR |

Best way to confirm mileage is to consider overall wear on the vehicle. Are most things original on the car? Driver's seat heavily worn? Shift knob worn smooth? Steering wheel still look new? Original paint?
As other's have pointed out, if this is a car you're considering buying that photo is useless. If you're a seller I recommend getting rid of the photoshop effect. It raises suspicions. I think a nice, 60k mile SC should sell in the high teens.

This car was inspected by the local MB/Porsche agency in its hood. They noted the Struts leak fore and aft, and the exhaust has rust...has normal seepage from the motor according to its age and model. Those are the only negatives... Are these cars worth having? Or would it be better to find a later model Carrera or 993 of the early 90's????

I believe all 1982 911s had 85 MPH speedometers.
![]() Looks like your's does not. If the speedo is not original mileage is simply unknown. These cars are worth having. You should drive one and see. The SC is quick and a lot of fun to drive. The cars are also very durable. However, if you need cold A/C and a smooth shifting tranny you have to go newer. Also, SCs cannot be chipped because CIS is mechanical. But newer usually = more expensive. Especially if you're talking 993s.

Hmmm, hard to answer. Depends on whether someone loves SCs, likes targas, likes white cars, etc... That interior looks mint and like a 60k mile car, fwiw.
So much is emotional when it comes to possessions that are not essential, like Porsches. It's hard to tell someone what to buy. A lot easier to tell what not to buy, i.e. rusty cars, high-mileage turds, etc... Have you always liked white SC targas? For me, it's that simple. I have auto OCD, certain cars and trucks just float my boat and others do not. 99% of the 911's on the road do nothing for me, (definitely 99% of 996s), but the 1% I like live in my brain rent-free. The color absolutely has to be right, and if there is one detail off, (like chrome wheels or a light interior), it's a deal-breaker. Doesn't matter how clean or well-maintained, I'm not interested. Does this car float your boat? It looks mint, definitely worth a closer look. What do they want for it? Is it an auction?

Agree that the interior looks like a 60k car.
If it's a Euro grey market then there should be some documentation of the federalization process.

JrNYC, If that is the speedo from your '82, I'm going to guess that it's an early production car. Definitely late summer or fall of '81. Most U.S. 1982 cars did not have 85 mph speedos, this is the (factory original) from my May 1982 production SC:
