Another XP question - Running Logoff Scripts
What does that mean? Why does it take so long? What's it doing? Sometimes I jsut have to close my laptop and take it before the thing is done doing what it's doing.

Short answer: Because it's Windows. The OS wants to shutdown any application or network shares appropriately and not just kill them. Sometimes they hang. If this is a work issued laptop that connects to a Domain, your IT admin probably has a logoff script that is saving/shutting down other network apps.
