yes we have no tomatoes today...

The usual trip to Chipotle for lunch and - no fresh tomato salsa per the FDA.

Evidently Whole Foods has also stopped selling them.

Revenge of the bugs!

There was salmonella in AZ, NM, and other states blamed on tomatos. Probably related to that...

I just planted my annual tomato patch last week. Yumm.... you really can't buy a good tomato.

Roma tomates cause salmonella, they're killing people down here. Seriously. Well maybe not.

Some reports actually do credit tomatos to have enzymes that help deter some cancers, so they are medicinal.

Put some pumpkinseed oil on those fresh tomatos, it's simply amazing!

Two things money cannot buy:

1) Love
2) Garden tomatoes

The lycopene in tomatos thing to deter prostate cancer has been disproven.

the eco friendly pesticide is worthless. bugs slaughtered half my tomatoes in one night. got a can of stuff from mexico. those little bastards won't mess with my plants again.

but have a nice setup behind my garage. planted corn, beans, squash, and tomatoes. all less than five feet from the barbeque grill.

Home-grown rules. I've got a little flowerbox garden going with a few tomato plants. Easy, low-maintenance and taste out-of-this-world.

yea, year after year, i plant a few tomato plants. i try to plant a variety of them, but i always get a bunch of tomatoes ripe all at once. first i have zero, then a billion and then back to zero. next year, i am staggering the plantings.
home grown tomatoes are like comparing farmed salmon to wild/fresh caught. not even close. for the winter, i even use quality canned tomatoes over anything i can buy at a supermarket.

a long time ago an old sicilian gave me a tip on growing tomatoes, he said to bury the head of an enemy in the garden. sounds good to me.

6 early girls, countless cherry tomato volunteers
Anyone in the Sacratomato area who wants one or several cherry tomato plants shoulds speak up
a half dozen various other tomatoes, Mr Stripey, those little mini yellow pears, couple different yellow ones. Have about half dozen various pepper plants and squash too. I bet there are a dozen plants out there that are better than waist high, I will take a pic in the AM.

And of course, without fail, Basil.

Get some of that groovy buffalo mozzarella cheese, balsamic vinegar and fresh basil on a little slice of a bagguette, oh baby.

Where was I? Oh yeah, my back office gal and her whole family got sick as hell at Taco Smell. Tomatoes with salmonella every where else, so whatcha figga it was here
