There was salmonella in AZ, NM, and other states blamed on tomatos. Probably related to that...

I just planted my annual tomato patch last week. Yumm.... you really can't buy a good tomato.

Some reports actually do credit tomatos to have enzymes that help deter some cancers, so they are medicinal.

the eco friendly pesticide is worthless. bugs slaughtered half my tomatoes in one night. got a can of stuff from mexico. those little bastards won't mess with my plants again.

yea, year after year, i plant a few tomato plants. i try to plant a variety of them, but i always get a bunch of tomatoes ripe all at once. first i have zero, then a billion and then back to zero. next year, i am staggering the plantings.
home grown tomatoes are like comparing farmed salmon to wild/fresh caught. not even close. for the winter, i even use quality canned tomatoes over anything i can buy at a supermarket.

Anyone in the Sacratomato area who wants one or several cherry tomato plants shoulds speak up
a half dozen various other tomatoes, Mr Stripey, those little mini yellow pears, couple different yellow ones. Have about half dozen various pepper plants and squash too. I bet there are a dozen plants out there that are better than waist high, I will take a pic in the AM.

And of course, without fail, Basil.

Get some of that groovy buffalo mozzarella cheese, balsamic vinegar and fresh basil on a little slice of a bagguette, oh baby.

Where was I? Oh yeah, my back office gal and her whole family got sick as hell at Taco Smell. Tomatoes with salmonella every where else, so whatcha figga it was here
