That's a home run! They have been trying to sell Enterprise South for a long time. There should be Champagne corks popping.

There were major environmental issues about building on the old Volunteer TNT plant. I hope they didn't give away the farm. Should be interesting to watch.

Great news for East Tennessee!!!

Glad they are coming, too bad they said they will have a deal going with the UAW though..... :( We want VW here, but we do not want any part of the UAW in this city.

I wonder how many new engineers they will hire? I might consider going to VW for the right price.

Bad news for North Alabama.........the local politicians were way too confident last week that VW was coming to Huntsville/Madison area.

Congrat's to Chattanooga!

My Dad told me that it is pretty much manufacturing only - very little if any engineering jobs. Pretty much like when Toyota built the plant just north of Huntsville.

Of course, most of the cars built there will be missing a few pieces of their grills...

Bob "the builder" Corker shoots & scores. The word is that he was the driving force on this.

Oh man, great news for East Tennessee!!! Chatanooga is a great town! much more on the ball than Knoxville as a whole...downtown Chatanooga is really fun.

may need to check into a job @ VW ;-)

And while VW expands, GM announces today they will stop production of the Hummer line. While it will really put a damper on the local GM plant, the "poser-mobile" was a bad idea (they were even tooling up for an H3 pickup to begin prduction soon).

I am a manufacturing/quality engineer so there might be something there for me. (Odd but it seems everyone I went to school with works in disciplines so far from what we were best at in college. :p) But I like where I am at now so it's all good.

I originally like the idea of the Hummer - a take-no-prisoners vehicle adapted for the street. But then it was turned into a yuppie/poser/rapper/soccer mom conveyance, and the magic was gone. The H2 and H3 are automotive jokes without punch lines.

They recently opened a huge Hummer dealership here in Sacramento; those guys have to be crying in their beer right now...
