Sucking Heads
No this isn't about liberals, do you like CrawFish and are you real and suck the heads?
|
A few weeks back I was walking into the super market. I called one of my friends back in Chatt & told him that they were boiling crawfish in the parking lot, smoking slabs of ribs and sampling shots of liquor inside. No place has food like here.
Step 1. Pick the biggest crawfish. Step 2. Pop head from body Step 3. Suck head Step 4. Pinch tail while using teeth to pull tail from shell Repeat till done |
|
I love crawfish and have been known to suck a head or two, but it usually takes me 4-5 beers to do it. The only thing that you really get out of sucking the head is a rush of spice anyhow so I don't really get the big deal.

Classic New Orlean's Radiator's song: "Suck da heads, squeeze the tips" ... I'm getting that itch to go back again Mule :)

Ah, Yes. One of Louisiana's 4 seasons. Crawfish season, crab season, shrimp season and oyster season! Like Rick, i suck the head to get a spice hit. Then you've got the hardcore, dig in with the pinky, get the fat& matter, bunch. I've done it, but, i don't make a habit of it. Call it an acquired taste.

Mule? NEVER has this Oregonian seen a crawfish that big. You sure you didn't sneak up to Maine & poach some baby lobsters???
|
Yep, that's what I'm talking about. We're even having to fish them out of our swimming pool this year. (It's funny watching the dogs decide what to chase around the pool...the crawfish or the Polaris).
But DAMN, those "Crawzillas" are hard to shell though:)! |
When I was living in Costa Rica we called them Longostas, I think.
|
We went crawfishing one time in college in my scuba class (yes they offered scuba as a PE course). So we don our tanks and gear, flashlights in hand and dip into a Texas river. Just grab em when u see em and put em in the bag. We ended up with a decent number, several hundred.
Anyhow, someone caught an extra large one...turns out (after we ate it) that it was actually a fresh water prawn (which is an endangered species), and a female with eggs no less. WHOOPS! |
