The most emotional moment ever at an sports event for me was the re-opening of the dome. Everybody had seen the horrors of Katrina and barely a year later, the Saints were back at home. No flyover because of the dome but we did have this. September had come and the Saints were coming!

On the subject, the Saints just picked up Jeremy Shockey. Jonathan Vilma at MLB, big Sedric Ellis in the middle, Deuce healthy, Marquis Colston, Shockey, Reggie, Drew Brees. Come on football season!

B-52? joke I hope.

And no one has pointed out flying the flag backwards... not quite a symbol of distress I guess, but if that is a network TV pic you'd think they'd flip it.

nothing wrong with a flag and a reaction to it.

I'll focus on the Constitution, Declaration and Federalist Papers... but the flag is supposed to be short hand for that...

Not true - it appears backwards (with the blue jack towards the upper right rather than the usual upper left) because the flag is two-sided. This is even worn on U.S. military uniforms and displayed on vehicles/aircraft in this way.

The flag flown UPSIDE DOWN (with the jack below the bars/stripes) is a symbol of distress.

But you are correct in thinking that in a static flag display, the jack is normally displayed towards the upper left.

Exactly! Who thinks a flag has only one side? ... as if it should be bank on one side. Maybe the French flag is (white on the Backside)

"this flag is symbolic of the men who used to march into battle with an actual flag. So steady and strong that the flag would blow behind them. On the arms of our soldiers, the flag faces as if being carried into battle, blowing behind them.

Flag backwards? That's what I like about you lefties. You're on the ball like a crab! There is no backwards. it just depends on which side of the flag you're viewing. Upside down is the distress symbol. But you might have hit on a bumper sticker. I'm a leftie & I don't know backwards from upside down!

Army Regulation 670-1, “Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia,” updated most recently September 5, 2003, addresses explicitly the proper and lawful placement of the U.S. flag patch on the Army uniform.

The regulation states that when authorized for application to the proper uniform the American flag patch is to be worn, right or left shoulder, so that “the star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right. When worn in this manner, the flag is facing to the observer’s right, and gives the effect of the flag flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward. The appropriate replica for the right shoulder sleeve is identified as the ‘reverse side flag’.”

It is backwards muloron. The flag is conventially presented with the starred field on the other side.

I'm sure your kiddiegarten teacher can explain that to you.

Reread my post - you seem to have some comprehension problems.

I was gonna mention the very nice flyover that we got on the opening day of the Houston Dynamo season...a team that has won 2 national championships in 2 years and competed in 4 international competitions in those same 2 years...a game where we not only had a flyover, but a personal visit from George Bush Sr., a fan of the team and a supporter of this city.

but then I figured that you'd all call me a commie bastard for going to a soccer game.

I don't understand, it isn't backwards, you are standing on the wrong side. The left side.
