Dolly's a comin!!!
Well, just starting to feel her presence here at the house. The eye wall looks like it is making a beeline for my front yard. Wouldn't be so bad but they are reporting she might stall a little at landfall and drop between 12-20" of rain....:(
which would be insult to injury considering that the ditches between my front yard and the road are already full of water from heavy rains in the past two weeks. Yep the ground out there in the yard is saturated as well.... doesn't look like this is going to be too pretty.... Well I will try and keep you guys informed with some pics and such as long as power and broadband stays up... If the news networks make it by for and interview and I will send out a salute to the PPBBS... you'll know it's me 6' 250# white dude wearing sandals, a black thong, white Porsche crest t-shirt and a football helmet..... sitting in the front yard with a black 12ga next to a hand written sign that says "those found here tonight will be found here in the morning"......LOL Seriously, I will try to keep you guys informed....SmileWavy |

Thanks guys, we'll try to get through this, hopefully unscathed... we are on our second tornado warning in the last 30 mins, and the winds are starting to pick up... liquor is in good supply so I should be okay there.... hope we don't loose power for too long, Momma just went out late last week and stocked up the freezer w/about $500. worth of meat.... We are cooking breakfast now and I have already told everyone to make large drinks up in insulated mugs with plenty of ice so that once everything is put up from breakfast we will not have to open the fridge or freezer.... this will hopefully keep the cold in for a while.... if power is off for too long I see a neighborhood bbq at my place in the near future..... well thats all for now, charging camera... will check in soon....

P.S. Hey Jim, from what they are reporting, that may end up looking like my front yard and living room..... minus the looter....

Best of luck to you! Do you have something to get away in if the water levels come up? Either a boat or canoe or raft or something? I hope you have flood coverage - it doesn't take much standing water to completely ruin sill plates or the bases of wood framed stud walls. . .
Another thing to consider is mosquito infestation afterwards - stock up on bug sprays now if you haven't already. Geez man - best of luck to you! Hope you emerge from this okay! |

This storms been doing some rude stuff...rapid intensification near the shore, possible hints of an eyewall replacement, sudden direction shift when just miles from the coast, all that stuff you DON'T want it to be doing :(

Don't even know where to begin....:( Well, we survived, but not unscathed.... To say the least the last week has been.. well... miserable... We lost water and power Wednsday just shortly after my last post... we suffered minor damage to the house and to the yard.... we did not get water until late Sunday evening, and we just got power back to the house about an hour ago... figured I would get on a post some pics like I promised... Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers... It wasn't that Dolly was very strong, she just came and didn't want to leave... I have been through many hurricanes and know it could of been alot worse.... These first pic will be what my yard usually looks like, and then the progression of the storm.... enjoy and be thankful you didn't have to go through it..... FYI when they talk about the Katrina smell..... I can believe it...
