current favorite summer beer?

So what's your favorite these days? I'm talking just finished mowing the lawn or just crawled out from under the car kinda beer.

Was kinda digging Stella but found Presidente and have yet to find something better. Yeingalingadingdonglanglongling is nice too w/ a little more substantial 'beer' taste.

I did recently try this stuff called Leinenkugel (sp?) but it was flat out horrible. I LIKE wheat beers but really don't care for the lime flavor that has been beat into that stuff.

Leinenkugel's Berryweiss.

The perfect beverage when served ice cold on a hot, humid day.

Hot days are made for an ice cold can of Bud. The king of beers.

Keith's Red or Guinness in a frosted mug.

The last couple of weeks I've been enjoying my brother-in-law's homemade dandelion wine. Frosted mug full of crushed ice, half water, half dandelion wine with a squirt of lemon. If the day requires it, reinforce the drink with an ounce of vodka. Not very manly, but holy smokes it's a great drink on a hot day.

Guinness Extra Stout

Same favorites all year round, but they can be hard to find in the U.S.

After riding the dirtbike for a couple of hours, and sitting around the campfire, a can of Bud that has been immersed in a cooler all day, with lots of ice, does a great job.

At home, with the beer fridge packed, I like an Odell's Easy Street Wheat.

Bud Light Chelada ! because I am going to have more than one.

In Bavaria, they enjoy a beverage called a Radler. Take 80% of a good tasty pilsner, and add 20% sprite. It sounds sacreligious, but I was blown away to see it on the menu at every bar we went to. Good beer choices for that (or as a standalone) are Pilsner Urquell or Bitburger.

VERY tasty with your feet in the sand on a hot day.

Somebody mentioned Presidente. It is very popular down here, and its quite good as well.

I've been into Sam Adams of late

Icewater...I'm trying to dry out. Damn, those pics look good....too good.

Well, climbing out from under the car usually requires a Miller Lite, but have been drinking some Heineken Light lately which works about as well. Have also been drinking some Wittekerke on occasion. I like the crispness of Stella also. Mmmm...beer.

I like Sam Adams and Guinness in the Fall/Winter. To heavy for a hot day IMO.

I'll agree that Guinness isn't a great beer to have wile you're out in the heat working away. But it's a great beer when you've finally finished up something and you can sit in the shade and defrag.

When I'm out in the sun, I like Rickard's White. Do you guys get that in the states? It's a pretty good cheap beer. Blanche de Chambly is nice too

In the U.K. they call that a "shandy". The younger you are - the greater percentage of soda..

Y'all will think I'm crazy but I have never found a Sam Adams beer that I like. I've tried. I just don't like it that well.

scottmandue 08-07-2008 11:46 AM

Sam Adams summer ale or cherry wheat.

Widmers Heff on tap.

I thought a shandy was beer mixed with ginger beer?
