Trip tp Pennsylvania...observations and pics
Just back from a trip to Penn state with the family and the Mercedes camper. I want to give a big thank to M21 Sniper (Bill) for his tip and help to not get me killed by Philly's bad boys...
![]() I need to say than Pennsylvania is simply beautiful. We went to Scranton old abandoned coal mine fo a visit....We followed the US 11 (superb driving back country road)...followed by Hershey chocolate world and Hershey AA auto museum. Lancaster Amish county is simply awesome.....we stopped at Lancaster Dutch Wonderland for the girls...and a bit for us too. Took a ride in the Pennsylvania rail road steam train...Philly's Please Touch Museum was on the list for the girls....and we went to Penn Landing Seaport Museum for the Becuna Sub visit along with the famous Olympia war ship....And we finished by old Penn State Eastern Penitentiary....There are some pics of our trip. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Those pics from Lancaster look just like my neighborhood. Corn and beans everywhere. We have the "brown " Amish here. Those were the "Grays".

Nice!
In respect to the automotive nature of this BBS you should tell us more about the Mercedes!

I got 8 liters / 100 KM on the highway at 110 kmh...Ok...OK...! ![]() 2.10 US gallons for 60 miles at 68 mph. Every where I went, it was a hit...Lots of peoples just wanna see it inside and were asking questions. They never seen it before. I like it because it's very inexpensive on fuel and can go everywhere in full autonomy. I got three batt installed plus one for the engine....and yes...a big alternator. There is a shower inside along with fridge and cooking area...We sleep four with no problems. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Cool truck!
I grew up going to PA as a kid, lot's of thing to do. Funny how it's so close, but seems like a different planet because of the slower pace. |

I made a couple trips to the Lancaster area several years ago, indeed beautiful country. The people were generally awesome also.
One thing, they don't believe in straight lines there. Every road I got on was a twisty, some of them turned back on themselves! The first night I was there I went for a drive and was lost within 5 minutes. Plenty of nice Porsche roads, but I was driving a Nissan rental car

Hershey Park, Dutch Wonderland, Strasburg... you're right where I grew up.
I do not miss those roads; nor the traffic along 30/340. |

that is one heck of a camper.
PA is beautiful..and long.... from East to West. I like how the geography changes. Did you drive through NY state? if so, i hope you liked it...I think the scenery in NY is unsurpassed on the East Coast with PA a close 2nd that is really an awsome camper.
