Looking for 15,000+ cfm exhaust fan for Dyno
Hey guys, I need a 15,000+ cfm exhaust fan for my dyno. I'd like to find something used if possible and figure there must be some place in the Los Angeles area to find one.
I've found some tubeaxial units from Grainger in the 30-42" size with 5hp 3phase motors that fit the bill, but by the time I add in shipping, roof curbing and shroud I'm 3K plus installation...a bit steep for current budget. Also need to figure out what kind of SP(static pressure) I'm going to get if I have 10 ft of straight ducting to match the fan diameter. Any help/recommendations are appreciated and willing to trade or pay for the work! |

I'm a Certified Industrial Hygienist and I used to do this ventilation stuff. I'll help you for free, just to get my brain to relearn some of this stuff. Let's talk. PM me. Maybe you can comp. me with a free dyno or something.

Have you considered an E-Ram?

Hmm, Thom could you spare one of yours and prototype me a carbon fiber wall that I could mount a couple hundred in...a wall of wind ![]() Sherwood, I'm looking at this point just to exhaust fumes, but I've got some other projects that your mpc system may work well for. I'll be in touch. |

Hostpitals, offices, and factorys have to get rid of their old equipment one way or another.
Might be worth looking into. |

Don't buck it, 'till you've f***k'd it. I remember you did do some independant testing way-back-when, and with negligable results, but it may still be viable for something other than the Otto cycle. There's a lot a hybrid overlap starting to happen, and a more efficient integrated design could produce 1% x sidewayseight. |

Thanks John, that's what I've been hoping for, just haven't had any luck sourcing one yet.
I have a friend that scored a great lightly used 30K unit for $200 that retailed for $5000. I've found a couple guys on ebay that sell that kind of stuff, but alot is restaurant type and low cfm. I need to find the right kind of company(Hvac) that retrofits manufacturing buildings. However I've been looking for about a year and now I just need to get something going soon

Another keyword might be "property disposition sale". Mabye also paint shops or universities as well. A few hundred bucks off might be worth an hour of calling.
The last minute hunt is definitely more exciting, but adds a few gray hairs. Don't ask me how I know
