The police are supposed to respond proportionally.

So if you throw a rock at them, or smash a hole in the windshied of the police car, you can throw rocks back at them and smash thier cars?

Saint Paul wrote a lot of cool stuff but I'm more of a fan of Saint Peter

As here in Denver, the goal of a lot of the protesters it to ACTUALLY be arrested.

They are TRYING to be arrested.

It's like a notch on the handle of their gun.

There sure is something amusing about peace protestors using violence.

The definition of irony.

red-beard 09-02-2008 09:13 AM

Well, the ones throwing rocks, etc, were not peace protestors. They were Anarchists who were marching with the Peace protestors.

Interesting photos slakjaw, thanks for posting.

My wife is there as a delegate for the 13th Congressional District (that's mostly Hudson County, NJ). She said that some members of the Connecticut delegation were injured by protestors, and that one of them (an elderly woman) was hospitalized. I support everyone's right to peaceful assembly and free speech, but that's not what some of these folks are up to. What kind of whackos are these that think injuring an elderly woman is going to garner postive attention for their cause?

Anyway, it does seem that this kind of stuff happens only at the RNC, and not the DNC. Or is it that the media only covers it at the RNC. I wonder...

The media will completely ignore that the protestors attack an eldery woman at the RNC.

Now if it was pro-life protestors at the DNC, that would be front page the entire week of the convention...

I swear to got its like "Liberal dress up week" around here. Lots of these guys walking around wearing combat boots and camo with bandannas around their faces. its lame. Some even have those gas masks with the green canisters that are for Halloween or whatever. I will try to get a photo, it will make you laugh.

It'd be an interesting comparison to list the police blotters for Denver & St. Paul side-by-side and see who the a-holes tend to align themselves with, or whether it's 50/50.

My question exactly. Sadly no one cared. Now on page 2. :( :p

Most of us here already know the answer to that one. ;)

My wife has also praised the local law enforcement and security measures. Glad to hear that they are keeping the whackos under control for the most part.

The best one I've seen along that line was when Operation Pink was picketing a Marine Recruitment Office in Berkeley. JOhn Stewart sent one of his guys down there and he interviewed one of the young women who protesting:

Reporter: What are you protesting?
Young Woman: The War, Militarism... What we need is a Peace Dept.
Reporter: A Peace Dept.? You mean where we would have a group of people we'd send out to defend American Values, keep the Peace and stuff like that?
Young Woman: Yeh, like an organized group that we'd send out.

- that's an attempt to recall how she put it. It was even funnier in her own words. She doesn't seem to get the concept...
Or maybe she want to send out unarmed social workers to be slaughtered.

Bingo.

also, the gas masks with the green canisters are for gas - they expect the cops to use gas on them.

Can't tell if you are asking a question or deliberately trying to twist what I said.

Welcome to America. In case you are from China, our cops are supposed to allow peaceful protest, and supposed to respond to control -- NOT KILL - rock throwers.

A lot of very brave people died fighting for those rights, and the rest of us are not going to let a small group of domestic fascists piss it away.
