Anyone know old BMW motocycles (R60/6)?

I have come across a number of 1970s BMWs for sale in the local market. I love the look of the cylinders sticking out the side.

How do the parts/maintenance costs stack up on these? Most of the owners I have contacted describe their bikes as reliable.

Any thoughts?

All of the 2 valve airheads are great. Some years a little better than others, but BMW made reliability a cornerstone in these bikes. Google BMW airhead and you will find a wealth of information. Much like the Porsche 2 valve flat six there is a lot of potential in these engines if you want a hotrod. But they are superb for a daily ride as is. Parts are still readily available, in some cases for a pretty price. But most regular items are quite reasonable.
