If you actually do the math you will see it works out to $ 425.00. You can't believe everything you read on the internet.

A buddy sent me that email the other day. Even if the math did work out to close to a half a million, do we really want to give that to every adult. Bill Gates doesn't need it, and I'm sure he's not the only one. Then there are the welfare people, folks that abuse the system and have us paying for all of their crap.

Then assume that they did it anyway. Most of these folks would be broke again in no time having spent their dough on crap and or blowing it.

Then, if everyone was a half a millionaire, the cost of everything would go up to ridiculous levels. The dollar would probably be worth half what it is now.

There are so many reasons not to do this sort of thing, even if it worked out that way.

I mean, the idiot who wrote this is only off by $424,575, so he was pretty close.

Unemployment shoots to 50% and a glass of beer is $20. Yeah, the math is wrong too. It would make a good twilight zone episode.

Speak for yourself, I'll take the 400k

Porsche-O-Phile 09-28-2008 07:14 PM

I wouldn't turn down $400 at this point either. If you don't want yours because you think it's "not enough" or whatever, I'll be happy to take it off your hands.

$400 might not be a lot of money to some folks on this board, but it sure as hell is a lot of money to me.

masraum 09-29-2008 05:21 AM

I'd gladly accept $425, but I don't think it's going to fix the economy.

71T Targa 09-29-2008 06:27 AM

I'm willing to do the reverse. If we all 'chip in' an extra $425, we could be out of this mess. I mean really, how hard would it be to come up with $425 if it meant a strong financial future for our country?
