Oprah's mom says it's not her fault she owes $300K to one store
I find this incredible and somewhat disturbing. The store owner has no more sense than the mother. They deserve each other. Wonder what Oprah has to say. I kind of like the fact she didn't run to mommies rescue. Then again, if I had Oprah's money, my parents would want for nothing.

Wow, the two most shocking things about the story.
1 The same store settled with her for $175,000 in 2002, and was ordered to not extend more credit to her. 2 She's claiming the store took advantage of her "lack of knowledge, ability, and-or capacity" Wow.

I've often thought that you have to be stupid to sell to/relate to the stupid. This is my explanation for the success of Oprah, Stern, The View, etc...
If you can't relate to your customer you can't sell to them....the above relate well to the idiot masses.

Yea, not everyone has the same relationship with their parents as you do.
I started to read this, but the red text puts me off. http://www.angelfire.com/ne/lliegirls/WINFREY.html Reckless behaviour, no excuses. |

Did I read this incorrectly?
Valentino (the store) settled the mom's debt out of court back in 2002 with the provision they not extend any more credit to the Mom. Now she's in debt again with the store and is suing them because they went against the prior agreement to suspend further extend credit to her. Notwithstanding any character issues, this is just a guess. A good lawyer might have a case for the plaintiff. Mom might not have the mental capacity. Dunno. Sherwood |
