911 scam

I was looking through the local Craigslist ads last night and came across a 1996 911 Turbo for $7640.00 Of course flags are flying, but I thought if it was local and I could see it personally then I'd see where it leads. I sent off an email for details and received the follwing reply. BTW, the ad has been pulled from Craigslist when I went to find it tonight. Well, of course it's nowhere near Vancouver, BC. Surprise:rolleyes: It's amazing what people try to get away with, but I suppose some people will bite.

Here's the email story I got back:

Hi there!

Sorry for the late response; something came up and I had to leave
urgently. I wanted to let you know that the car is still available. I
had a buyer offering $9,000 but his loan did not get approved. Why is
the price so low? I am going trough a divorce.
So I'm willing to let it go for $7,640.00 and since I only have one,
First come, First served.
The 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo looks like new. The car is in great
condition inside, outside and mechanically. It will come with a clear
title, bill of sale signed by me as well and all the papers (including
the original manuals and keys) that you will need to register it under
your name.
Although I am not home, we can still make the deal through ebay. I have
a purchase protection program with them (Condition Guarantee by Seller
Program), so ebay will guarantee up to $20,000 for any vehicle I sell.
Shipping is already paid, as I explained, my buyer changed his mind
after I have made the arrangements to ship the car. The trucking company
would not refund me but can ship the car to anywhere within continental
US (free), so I've left it at their warehouse and it's ready to ship at
anytime. Also, this purchase protection guarantees that the car is
exactly as I described; basically, once delivered, you'll have 5 days to
inspect it at your home and if you decide not to keep it you will get
refunded in no time and they will charge me with the return costs.
So, please let me know if you are agree.
Smooth transaction, fast, safe and secure.
I will wait your decision.

The car is located in Houston, TX.

Some details and options:

Mileage: 7820
Body Style: Coupe
Color: Red
Cylinders: 6 Cylinder
Transmission: Manual

Christina Calkins

PS: Unfortunately I can't speak over the phone; I sell the car due some
circumstances in my life. I had an accident and I lost my hearing. I go
every day to do treatment here at a clinic. Don't worry the accident
wasn't in the Porsche 911.

I was going to respond with an offer to send her $20,000 and she could send me back the difference :D , but just before hitting "send" I deleted it.

Christina Calkins......right!

More like "Mohammed Nabish Mabuki", or someone else who is struggling with the English language.

Well, "Shipping is already paid, as I explained"
Hell have it shipped to my house! I only need 1 day to decide :)

English...do you speak it?

i wonder why they always use a ridiculously low price, like 1/6 of the real value.

If they would just use 50% of the real value, they'd probably have a lot more success.

I dunno Ed - there are plenty of posts on this board by people who have much more trouble with English than the scammer above. I assume you're not going to vote for Obama, huh?

This belongs in OT, BTW.

Too bad there's not a computer program out there that would recognize these stupid "catch phrases" and then activate a hidden 12 Ga 3" mag Browning built into all future montiors......that might assist in ridding the world of these scum.

Good point.

I'd not put Obama into the same grouping as the scammers that seem to propogate on the African continent. That is a truth whether one is voting for him, or not.

These things are always so fake. I mean really, it is easy to spot...

Why type all that when "The car looks like new" would suffice. We already know it is a 1996 911 turbo, that's why you emailed her. Dumb dumb dumb, it's a copy and paste letter basically. Sentences that are too good or strange like that stand out to me.

****ty list. If the person really owned the car they would list REAL options like bose sound, embroidered seats, sportbacks, etc. Obvious copy paste **** again.

Again with the strange stating of the make and model. You would never say that. You may so "wasn't in the Porsche" or "wasn't in the 911" but never "Wasn't in the Porsche 911"..... jesus it sounds like a robot wrote this. And most likely did because as stated above these people most likely can't speak that great of english which is why phone calls are not allowed.

I'm not a scammer but if I decided to be one I think I could do better than these idiots.
