Any lawyers w/ general release exp?

Hi,

I was recently released from a company after 10.5 years. The release agreement is very straightforward in appearance, but I wanted to engage someone with some experience with these things as I'd like to make a few changes, and I want to ensure nothing is missing and I've thought of everything.

Obviously I would pay for the help, but seeing as how I'm now jobless, not a ton ;-)

Thanks!

Not an attorney so no advice on that end.

Whenever we did a layoff the "package" was what it was.

Anyone that wanted to modify the paperwork was offered the option of termination without any compensation beyond what was required by law.

Hopefully you are not in an "at will" state and/or not the case with your former employer.

Good Luck.

Bump.

Paul,

I'm not sure what angle you're going for. Georgia is a an "at will" state. You're (ex) employer does not have to give you any reason or severance to let you go. If you feel you have a case for discrimination of some sort, that would be a different situation.

What kind of changes are you looking to make? What are your concerns?

Are you concerned about possible claims they may have against you? Do you think you may have claims against them?

No claims from either side, but I would like to adjust the terms of my severance a bit. Obviously I can't go into too much detail on a public forum.

No takers?

If there are any other your ex-employees in the same boat maybe you could see a lawyer together. Only the lawyer need know the specifics of each circumstance but the advice could be shared. Just thinking out loud. Good luck to you.
