Ford Assembly Line in Brazil - Not in US
Dubbed the 'Most Modern Plant in the World'.
Ford says (privately) that this is what they need to do in the US. UAW will not allow this type of plant. http://info.detnews.com/video/index.cfm?id=1189 Suppliers have their assembly lines inside the plant, also. There are UAW members driving forklifts, making over $100k/yr. (Average forklift driver- $30/yr). Starting salary w/ benes, etc. is close to $65/hour. GM Chrysler ar no different. Many workers are paid full salary for doing nothing. At Delphi, lawn mowers, floor sweeper, toilet cleaners all made the same salary as line workers. So the proposed Auto Bailout is really a Union Bailout, it seems. And if the union problem isn't taken care of, a bailout will not matter. Last edited by tcar; 11-13-2008 at 08:47 AM.. |
