I've internet dated for a few years. I know a number of people who have met and married via match.com Wondered what everyone else's experience has been...

i've been looking but can't commit.

met quite a few women over the past few years. Had a couple of good relationships. Met my current g/f on match. You have to learn the rules and how to read between the lines. I think you also have to have a pretty rigid "plan" for how you do things. I got to where I insisted on meeting someone after one or two emails - too many people want to have virtual relationships and it is too easy to get carried away by email and phone. There is no way to evaluate analog "chemistry" so imho you have to meet early to avoid wasting everyone's time.

That's how I met my wife. Had lots of luck and fun online before I got serious with her. It's a candy store out there.

We'll have to make sure to get together next summer for sure. Sorry I missed the last meeting. Ended up making chowdah for the tailgate party at the Steeler/Patsy game. Oh, btw... the Steelers won :D

my neighbor, the one i call "dirty hippie" gets alot of dates off craigs' list. every week i see him around with some new appalled looking girl.

I had bad luck with online dating so I ended up giving up on it. I might try again one of these days.

I did internet dating for a few years too. It was a great way to get me out of the house. I had no set goals so were not dissapointed. Dinner dates with anyone and everyone - lots of fun. It stopped me giving of a needy (desperate) vibe, and I started meeting lots of nice girls other ways. Present GF I met speed dating.

I'm trying it right now for the first time. Recently divorced.

So far, so good. Met a gal last week and we had coffee. (I pushed for a quick meeting after reading Nostatic's comments in another thread) Now we've got a real date planned for Friday night.

Got a few other lines in the water. Seems like a target rich environment (a la Top Gun :)).

What I like best so far is weeding out the show-stoppers (wants 3 more kids, religious nut, dumb as a rock, etc.) and allows me to focus my limited time on prospects that could actually go somewhere. If I want to pick up on random hot chicks, I can go to a bar.

The online thing seems pretty cool so far. We shall see.

Here's one of my Match.com scores. From the photo, you'd think we'd be soulmates. She had a collection of class III guns, her FFL and was just all around cool. I had actually unknowlingly met her years prior when she worked at the NRA Range. She was a FWB for a while and we still stayed friends, which was lucky for me considering her arsenal and shooting abilities.

Another one I met online about 5-6 yrs. ago, who didn't last much past a few mos., introduced me to her gazillionaire boss, who was a serious Ferrari and Porsche guy. He and I are friends to this day. And I found him a 308 he eventually bought, which our own Wayne passed on. It's a small world. Online dating can really lead to some cool relationships, even if you don't find your soulmate there.

My weird aunt does it... idk just wanted to throw that out there.

Happily married 25 years met her in Grad school at night, best place to meet women is night school they want to succeed.
