Can any of you fellas offer suggestions on how to remove the frost from my windshield? :D

It's real. There's a whole series of photos. I think it's from Denmark or something like that. High waves make spray that's blow by winds and covered everything near the coast, IRRC.

I'm guessing the salt precipitated out, allowing it to freeze.

Or it was really, really cold.

The old rug on the windshield trick would be to no avail in that pic..

We had an ice storm in the Spokane area a few years back. Freezing rain on a colossal scale, covered everything in a thick layer of ice. While some of the pictures are cool -- my mother found a spider web preserved perfectly, for example -- it was murder on power lines and roads.
