Snow Storm
I got up at 5:30 this morning so that I could clear the driveway and make it to work on time at 7:00. When I came in to the house to shower and start getting ready for work, my wife was sitting at the kitchen table. That can only mean one thing: work is cancelled or delayed. (We both work at the same place and if she is sitting at the table, that means she has stopped getting ready for work herself.) Work was delayed until 10:00.
I took a shower (I smelled like snowblower exhaust) and went back to bed. I got up a few hours later and was in to work by 9:30. (I wanted to beat the mad rush that would form at 10:00.) So here I am. I've checked everything off of my "to do" list. Half my department did not show up today or is working from home (allegedly). It's very quiet. I've called or sent out an e-mail for every "issue" I can think of. I've worked every response I've gotten but I think I've gotten all the responses I will. I find myself hitting "refresh" in IE continuously until someone posts again on OT. |
Oh, and I've decided my new credo is:
"Carpe feles" |
My daughter's up there right now. Her husband took a job in BLM and she's staying with the in-laws off and on until the house sells.
I got a text this morning: "It just snowed a foot and it's 15 friggin' degrees. I wanna go home." |
Did I hear the radio right? -37 in North Dakota? I'll bet a lot of people are wondering about Al Gore these days...
|
Our high tomorrow is supposed to be 0º with a low of -17º.
What business is your daughter's husband in Dan? |
Crap. They just changed tomorrow's high to -4º.
|
snow tires

Why didn't you wait for me to buy my car back? Now what am I supposed to do?
|
It's in Texas. I can hook you up with the current owner.

A guy just walked by my desk talking on his cell phone.
He's wearing earmuffs and he wedged the phone between one muff and his ear. I christen this new invention the Red Ear headset. |
HA! Clearly a slowsnow day in Legion's office
|
Chris, you need to find some challenging work.
This amount of time you seem to perpetually have to be on the forum is not good for your mental or physical health. |
Same here (MN). It is freezing...work is slow..dreading the "warm my car up" time frame before heading home...so scanning my favorite sections of pelican....

Mechanic.
Worked for a DHL contractor here in STL, but since DHLs financial problems, he ended up laid off. His parents live in BLM, so he's working someplace up there right now, just to have some insurance... |
I understand that. There are tons of places in town that could use a mechanic, so I won't even venture a guess.
I guess your daughter has been spoiled with those mild St. Louis winters. ;) |
Office sex with the wife??
