It's both the woman who sold (well, refused to sell) Desmond the ring AND Farraday's mother (who Desmond is on is way to Oxford to see). I guarantee it. Whenever we know that LOST is going to introduce a mother/father/sibling, you can guarantee it's someone we've already seen somewhere on the show before.
