BMW 2003 325i

Are these decent cars? One for what seems like relatively cheap money. 54,000 miles, nice shape and under $6k. Are they the dud of the BMW family?

DelPico 02-21-2009 02:24 PM

Actually it says 325 IA.

I have researched these cars extensively and that car should be $10k+. IMO, something is wrong with this car.

DelPico 02-21-2009 03:10 PM

Probably right. Thanks.

Sounds like one of those craigslist scams that usually get deleted pretty quickly.

I had a 2003 until about a year ago - one of the best cars I've had, fun to drive and not a lick of trouble. I actually tried buying another recently and couln't find a decent one for less than the price of a new Smart ($11.5k). Hell, I got $16k for mine last Spring from Carmax. No way one for $6k is legit.

How about this one for $9.8k. It has 75000 on it.

Better if I put the link.

I drive a 2004 5-speed Sport Package every day. Awesome car, great reliability at 88,000 miles. The only repairs have been a bum wheel bearing, a broken radio knob, and a shorted lock switch (due to spilled coffee). My service writer says that the second-gen E46 is dead-bang reliable. Not as involving as my air-sucker, but easier to drive fast.

That being said, 6K sounds like a scam.

Mine is for sale, but I need $14k for it and it's a 330i with every option.

With the economy the way it is now, I could see a 2000 going for that, especially a sedan. That's a bit low for a coupe with those miles, but only a bit. Woth checking out, imo.

My other car is a 2004 325 IA.

Fine machine. I love it.

We have an '03 325Xi, 80k. Great car. Only problem are the idiots at the local dealer so we take it an hour away to Winston-Salem and get outstanding service.

My wife has a 03 325i for two years and about 40k trouble free miles. Its a great car but if it not maintained very well, its will turn into a great but expensive to repair car.

rfloz 02-22-2009 12:17 PM

We have a 2001 325ci and it is easily the best family car either of us has ever owned. It is comfortable, competent and, so far, reliable (83,000 miles).

It does seem a little boring after a drive in the 911, but then, what doesn't?:D

I'd be suspicious of the quoted price for a 2003. The market is bad, but not that bad.
