Top Gear last night was fantastic!

Called BS on battery cars (even the beloved Tesla) and showed us what the REAL future in alternative powered cars is (Hydrogen) via Honda. Loved it!!! Got to see how a battery powered sports car 'handles'. Not pretty. Even Leno was clued in to reality on this issue. Nice to see some independant thought for a change.

And at the beginning they did a little tribute to their version of Trans Am racing. Absolutely fantastic footage (could've watched it for 24hrs straight).

I was so excited that there was a new episode, but that was an older one. That is a good episode, but apparently a lot of viewers didn't understand James Mays' report on the Hydrogen to the point where he wrote a column on it for the UK explaining how important it was.

Sweet, checking my DVR now!

Thoroughly enjoyed it too!

The following episode with the Russian cars was hilarious too!
Seeing those guys "racing" the soviets poor excuse for road cars was full blown comedy!

To bad they didn't get into the real issue holding back hydrogen as a viable fuel...(thats for another thread)

Greta show, I can even get the SO to watch with me and enjoy the car stuff!

I get excited when I see posts like this until I realize that you guys are watching these eps on BBC America. My heart sinks quickly because I have already seen these episodes 3-4 months ago when they first aired on BBC. But in only 3 short months (June 21st) Top Gear is back.

That's what I was saying!

So excited!

Then, so sad...

I actually have downloaded every single Top Gear episode ever, and from time to time, I just randomly pick one, watch and laugh!
I actually replicated that file folder so I wont lose it!

I wish I could torrent. My internet is ghey and does not like torrents. I'm moving soon and should be able to get DSL. Xbox Live and torrents all day long.

We need to build some more nukes. At night, during off-peak hours nukes are still pumping out kilowatts at the same rate. PERFECT for fueling hydrogen cells.

I wish I had saved the ones I have watched. Saw the Russian segment, and the Mayor Of London in the rain... seems he came back on a dry day and did exceptionally well. The Porsche 911 indestructo is a classic. The Toyota P/U that would not die, the amphibious conversions, the boat vs. Ferrari, the Saab Viggen vs. the car, and the rocket powered recap. All classics. Oh, the trap shooting cars episode..... the 'NORMAL' car review that was hijacked... yes it's GREEN!

I'm sorry guys, didn't realize it's a repeat.

Loved it though!

So what's the REAL issue with hydrogen?

I am about half -way there so far. However, I have watched every episode that I do have at least 3 times.

it takes tons of energy to produce. was surprised they said it was the same $ as gas. of course these stations are only in Cali. loved Leno's comment that it will save the fossil fuel for us petrol heads.:D

I think tho, that it takes a lot of energy to produce now, just like gas would if it was the new thing. Gas production has been optimized for decades, just like the gas engine. In the beginning it was expensive with low yield. Look at what we do with gas and gas engines now.

It's just the beginning for Hyrdo (as a vehicle fuel source.) I imagine that in a few decades the cost will be low and the engines will be amazing.

I enjoyed the episode last night. I wish we could get them closer to when they air originally though, but hey, I'll take them when I can get them.

It's not just the cost to produce H. The cost to establish the infrastructure to distribute it, build the "gas" stations to handle it, etc. on a nationwide basis would be mind boggling.
