Mt Dora has a good one. Heathrow (which part of Lake Mary) is the ritzy part of town and there are a couple of those. And once a month there is an exotic gathering that is fun.

When I was travelling in south Florida was the only time. In Lake Mary you are more likely to get asked for Grey Poupon than anything else.

I'm not getting this: If you "print or expose it", what does that mean? Print what?

Print...short for "imprint". If the weapon outline shows through your clothing to where it is recognizable as a weapon, you can be charged with exposing a weapon and/or lose your permit.

Naturally. I open-carried last week at the rodeo (lots of Dems/Libs here) and received the stink-eye from more than a few of the Birkenstock type. No-one spoke out, though.

When I went to the class to carry I thought it would be a joke, but I actually learned stuff.

It's worth the 117.50 it cost me (the permit).

Plus, I don't have to wait when I purchase.

I LOVE FLORIDA! I moved here from the state of Mass (which almost a communist state!).

That's the best benefit. Walk in to a gun store/pawn shop/gun show, lay your money (and CCW) down and walk out with a new toy.

AZ is even better. My CCW class was $30 and for an extra $5, the instructor, who's also a cop, personally handed in my fingerprint card. He took our prints at his house. Got my permit in two weeks. Same instructor is also UT-certified and got me checked out at his house in under two hours a few mos later. My UT permit is the best one. I open carry when on the bike, since it'd be too hard to draw from concealment in full gear. And I love letting the cars with CA plates see me pass them with a .45 on my right hip. The local BMW bike dealership is in between two major gun stores, so you always see people open carrying while test riding bikes there.

I like this doctrine. And I live in Cali. Plus, I'm not even a gun person.

Utah has the best permit. Get it while you still can. They won't be giving them to non-residents forever.

Ah-ha. Utah.

But what is the benefit if you're in AZ? You have to follow the laws of the host state.

FL permits are valid in AL, AK, AZ, AR, CO, DE, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, MI, MS, MO, MT, NH, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA & WY.

A drivers license is good in all states.

A marriage license is good in all states....why the heck a ccw license isn't!

California needs to pull it's head out! There is zero reason not to allow a person in good standing not to be able to protect themselves.

If that guy has a medical bills fund I want to contribute to it. Hell, if someone can find out for certain what caliber he used, I'll buy him a new box of bullets too to replace the ones he lost takin' out the trash.

But...but...there'll be utter chaos! Gunfights in the streets! People shooting each other while standing in line @ McDonalds or driving in traffic!

Well, that's what they said would happen here in 1987 when the FL legislature opened the floodgates.

Umm...err...come to think of it, Calif. always had gunfights in the streets, shootings @ McDonalds and shootings in traffic...

Nevermind.

I checked the Miami City police website, but they haven't updated their press releases since Jul. of last year.

Perhaps the news will release more details as they become available.

Luckily, all Burger Kings here have security cameras, so we'll see the footage within a few days.

And, as is typical with "victims" of crimes committed in places of business, the shooter (good guy) will most likely file suit against Burger King for "failing to provide a safe environment". I'm sure they have bucket-loads of insurance for this kind of thing.

UT is the most widely recognized CCW that's also accepted in NV. AZ permits are good just about everywhere that has CCW except NV and SC. Now I'm good to go in every shall-issue state. Since I make it to NV a few times a year and UT at least once a year, a UT permit is very good for me. NV has very weird gun laws, mandatory handgun registration in Clarke County, state pre-emption law has no force in cities below a certain population size, can only carry what's listed on your CCW, etc. A UT permit for a non-NV resident gets me out of all that nonsense.

OK, got it. Does one have to travel to UT for the permit? Wouldn't you need a UT driver's license to show a LEO if asked? My FL CCW is only valid when accompanied by a FL D/L.

Edit: Nevermind. I was looking at an old list (2006). Updated list shows I'm good in NV & UT with my FL permit...
