HD in the bedroom

Wife and I pulled the plug this past Christmas and got a 52" Samsung 1080P 120, bla, bla. Got the HD dish network. HDMI cable from the box to the back of the TV. Stunning picture. So we got 22" computer in our bedroom that also works as a tv monitor. So we take the clunky old 25 inch ancient tv out. And now the 22 computer seems to small. So we're going with another Samsung in the bedroom.

My question is to get that amazing HD in the bedroom will I have to split the HDMI cable and run it to the bedroom too? I ran the special cable from a splitter at the dish to the bedroom and the picture is very good but on the computer screen it isn't that reach out and grab you good.

Computer monitors (generally) have lower resolution than TV monitors.

You can get an HDMI splitter/hub, but you'll have to watch the same channel as the main TV (or split the signal further "upstream" and watch one TV at a time). Not 100% sure about satellite, but you may have to get another receiver in the BR in order to watch different channels.

Yeah for satellite you'll need another receiver or a way to control the main receiver.

I had this in my last house.

More TV's than receivers. I arranged the daisy chains based on which TV's would not be on the same receiver and also used simultaneously. My office and Master bedroom were on one receiver and living room TV and a couple of others on another receiver.

Basically no one would ever be in the office and bedroom at the same time so that worked.

To control the receiver go to Radio Shack and get IR transmitter/receiver set up.

The one I had looked like a little pyramid The units were on different floors at opposite corners of the house and worked perfectly.

If you are on cable then you very likely will get a good number of channels, local and network at least, without a box. Just need a TV with a digital tuner built in, which most if not all have these days.

If you go for another Samsung make them turn the volume off on everything else and listen to the prospect only.

I have the 67 in Samsung in the den. Love it.

Recently went to get a new TV for the bedroom. Out of stock on the one I wanted but they had a really good deal on the 23 in Samsung which was smaller than I wanted but for $250 at 1080p it was a steal.

Picture is great but the sound is awful. Speaker is in the back of the TV so it sounds like some old AM handheld mono radio.

Think it's going back.

If we're watching something in the bedroom it is because we aren't watching it in the den. That said I can sit here and watch a differnt channel than my wife is watching on this computer split screen and still do the computer thing. If I have to be slaved to whatever the den is programmed to no problem. I'm just so spoiled to the clarity of the den tv I don't want to give it up if I want to watch the 10:00pm local bimbo news in hd.
