Anyone in Farmington, NM? Alburquerque?
Gonna be in Farmington for a few days and may be able to get out for a drink or even get my hands greasy in someone's engine bay after work.
I'll be in Alburqurque Thursday night... |

ABQ is cool, Farmington is a bit remote.
I learned a long time ago to have "reservations" about driving the highways near Farmington on Saturday night. Too many folks drinking and ending up in ditches. |

My Farmington story:
Wife and I fly into Alberquerque from Zurich (via Chicago) a few years ago. I'm taking new wife to see the Grand Canyon, and we end up in Farmington for the night in our rented car. We slide into a bar near the motel for a few drinks, and find it packed to the rafters with people dressed in bizarre costumes—and realize it's Halloween night. Few tequilas and a couple of dances later we get hauled up on to the stage by a guy with a microphone and it turns out... ...wait for it... ...we had been voted the winners of the evenings costume contest for our "Eurotrash" look. We tried to decline on the basis that we hadn't even tried—and always looked like that—but the organizers wouldn't hear of it.

There are some pelicans up in Durango, but I haven't seen any in Farmington. Wish I still lived out there, you are one of the people from pelican I've always wanted to meet.
Closely follow the speed limits when you are in the towns between Abq and Farmington. My old man got a ticket going into and coming out of Cuba one time. Also bring a CD or some music to listen to because there aren't any radio stations for much of the drive. There is an awesome 356 for sale in the area if you are in the market ![]() http://www.excellence-mag.com/classified/082808.1964356C.html Rich

That's a great looking 356, Rich. I was actually in Bloomfield today...a 12 hr work day. But I'll take a 12 hr day in the sun over a day in the cold of Chicago! When I left the house there was 2-3 inches of slushy snow everywhere..and it was in the 60's today in NM with the sun shining all day.
I saw a couple of coppers on 550 from ABQ to Farmington, but I'm on business so I don't speed ![]() Maybe one day I'll make it to PA... It's been almost 20 yrs since I was last in the 4-corners area, and the area has changed a little. I still love it. No Farmington story, but I did find a Thai restaurant to eat at. Not something to rave about, but they tried with the ingredients they could get. If I get off work early enough tomorrow, I'll check out the local gun shop to see if there's anything interesting. |

A L B U Q U E R Q U E...
Learned to spell it when I was 5, when we moved there. Grew up there. A L B U, Q U E R, Q U E is how I remembered it, and still do. Drove through Farmington many times on the way to ski at Purgatory (near Durango). Officers everywhere. |

wow LEO on 550?
hardly ever see any out there cruising when i head to SF, NM for turkeyday with the folks. weekend nights might be a different story with all the memorials on the side of the roads out there. cuba, usually one parked in town. and the stretch between farmington and bloomfield is always bleeping the detector.

Yep saw him as I was leaving Cuba with his squad pointed west at traffic coming over the crest of the hill going into town.
Spotted a few between Bloomfield and Farmington..and they are adding more judging by the big bill board along the corridor advertising the Farmington PD is hiring. |

Fintstone lives in ABQ.... might message him.
Farmington is a descent place but not this time of year. Cold and windy, dress warmly. I flew over it yesterday and it did not look like much fun down there. Joe A

Souk~
Just saw this post, you must be in "Querque" by now. Next time stay up in Durango. More scenic, better restaurants, bars & Porsche roads! Yes, there are a few Pelicans up here, Rich included when he is in town. Getting "victimized" in Cuba by the State Patrol is pretty common. Do the speed limit 10 miles in & 10 miles out. Same goes for the approach into Bernallilo/ABQ On a side note, I drove the SC from Durango to ABQ a few weeks ago and made it there in 2:15 hrs. Do the math Waved to Johnny Law in Cuba & Bernallilo (thank you V1) Look me up next time you are out this way.
