Nice. I like the factory drag car history even if I was born too late to experience it first hand.

It's my son Hayden standing where the engine should be in my brother's 39 Pontiac coupe. You can see his 64 Fairlane (done Thunderbolt style with tear drop hood) in the background. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238679723.jpg |
Slightly modded Paul?;)

My friend Ed's drag Vette..
468 big block, very very fast.. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238685253.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238685261.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238685274.jpg |
Love those altered wheel based cars. Ramchargers too. My uncle has a 62 Catalina that he raced in the 60s and 70s that he purchased from Royal Pontiac. It's a really cool car.

I took these at local car shows. Always had a thing for the GTO.
At Jim Wangers facility in Oceanside, CA.. He was the marketing genius behind John Delorean's GTO. Mr. Wangers... hope the breeze doesn't remove his hair. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238687487.jpg Wangers beautiful GTO Judge. He stole the name from Laugh-In's "Here come da judge!" http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238687652.jpg Did someone say, "'62 Catalina from Royal Pontiac"? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238687852.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238687900.jpg Factory sponsored muscle. Muchenthaler Park in Fullerton Ca. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238687997.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238688063.jpg Remember Candy Clark? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1238688205.jpg |
WOW , American Graffiti right ?
|
ha-ha they must all be on the car show circuit nowadays. I got Paul LeMats' autograph 2 years ago at the local World of Wheels show. He was Milner and was there with his yellow coupe...he looked much worse for wear than Candy.
|
I thought this Thread was going to be about San Franciso or Hollwood.
|
I loved the character "Milner "
|
Man............................ when it comes to these cars; factory/ dealer backed race cars there is nothin better.........even than Porsche for me
|
The basics on the GTO in the top pic:
1965 GTO "street car"...1400 hp on a fat tune-up. 565 ci Pontiac on 2 stages of sauce. Turns 8.30 in the full 1/4 Gotta admit, my '65 wasn't quite that fast..;) I recall back in high school, guys debating if the 10 second barrier would ever be broken...yeah, giving my age away... |
|
Now THAT is way cool......surfboard on a Goat........................I'm sure at looking back at that pick you must of had the entire world covered and at your feet !

My oldest brother knew his number was up in the next round and he choose to enlist in the Navy. He came back.

My Uncle was the engine builder for drag race team out of Tacoma, WA. Joint Venture ran as a team in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. He passed away in 2006 after a long battle with cancer. However I still have some great memories as kid going to the races with Uncle Mac. Here are some photo's of the team and cars through the years...
