The auction announces whether there is a title delay prior to starting the bidding. A delay is not bad though, it just means the previous dealer didn't bring it to the auction prior. 99% its harmless. The dealer has 14 business days to get it to the auction.

The other 1% can screw you! The title could have liens or a salvage. Also the dealer could have auctioned it prior to getting title from the original owner, which is illegal, and could have run into any number of issues with that exchange.

If its been over 30 days I'd be worried. When does your temp tag expire?

It's been over 30 days (about 45) and I'm on my 2nd set of temp tags. They claim that they'll have the title this week, but I wanted to see how much I needed to keep the rage in check. Sounds like it might be time to unleash the rage on the dealer...

Its actually a violation to issue a 2nd temp tag unless its an emergency which this isn't. I'd bet $50 that they sold you the car without having possession of the title. Major no-no but common practice among small lots. You can report them to the DMV anytime.

It has returned it's investment in smiles 10,000x over.

Quite frankly the 928 is 10x the car than the 911 is. I have ridden in and driven in all kinds of 911s, to me, it's just a glorified VW bug. The 928, now THAT is a car with real looks, originality, and character.

Yeah, the admitted to not having the title in hand. Of course they didn't admit to it until after the transaction and I asked why the title hadn't shown up in the mail yet.

The 2nd issue temp tags is an emergency - at least to me. My daily diver was totaled by an idiot in a tractor trailer (my car was parked in a parking spot on the side of the road). The replacement car (the one in question) is my primary mode of transport to and from work. Granted on nicer days, I take the Porsche. I live in PNW, so "nicer days" are still only a handful per month at this point.

Thanks for the info.

Terry, do you do sales only or do you work with a leasing company too? I'd be interested in the lease (tax reasons) on a 997 as well.... OK, if the deal was smokin', any way of getting the 997 GT3.

Not doing leases yet. Financing companies have not let up enough.

As far as a deal on a GT3, you could look for years and not find a "amazing deal" on rare cars. There is always more demand than quantity. Your best looking a a private seller going through a hardship. Standard 997's, lambos, 550's are easier to get for a good price.

Terry - thanks again for the advice. The title "magically" showed up in my mailbox (no envelope) yesterday afternoon. Cooincidentily, it was shortly after I made a phone call to "discuss" some concerns I had.
