Cigar Thread

I know there are some aficionados on here, there have to be. What are your favorites?

I've become pretty fond of Avo XO's when the rare mood stricks and I want a cigar.

HardDrive 04-23-2009 01:25 AM

I like a Cohiba while staying at the Melia Cohiba, and wandering on the Malecón.

And thats all I gots to say about THAT.

EDIT: I guess not......

It is 1994, and for reasons I cannot explain, I am drunk off my nut with my buddy and my sister at an abandon hotel formerly owned by Meyer Lansky, drinking 15 year old rum, and dancing with a girl who's skin smells like sugar in front of a makeshift DJ stand. A Cuban kick boxer who is making huge efforts to get my sisters attention assures me that I can sleep with this girl if I want. But I'm not interested in sleeping with a working girl, and I dance with her and drink and laugh. But the night winds down, and she asks me 'where I am going', and I say, 'home'. Then I ask her If I can get her a ride home, and she says yes, and that a ride home is $20USD, and I smile and say, 'OK'. We are drunk, and she laughs, and pulls me close and kisses me on the cheek. The party is breaking up, and while we are dancing, I slip $20 into her hand. People are making there way out, and our party meets up at the door. She kisses me again, and puts her arms around my neck, and kisses me on the neck a few times to make sure I don't want to go home with her, and despite the fact that I would like to do nothing more on the planet than go home with her, I smile, kiss her back, and say in my pidgin Spanish, 'good night beauty'.

True dat.

I had a Romeo yesterday that was very nice. I'll probable go fetch another tomorrow, well worth the $6 from the local indians.

Eh, Cubans are overpriced and underwhelming.

The Dominicans make the best cigars today, hands down.

I like a nice Ashton Cabinet. Pretty much anything except the maduro.

Now I am a big Maduro fan. I enjoy many, many brands of cigars..5Vegas, anything made by Rolando Reyes, Sherpa, Cohiba, Oliveros, etc. I have over 60 in my humidor now, but some are coming with me to Hershey

Shadetree930 04-23-2009 05:59 AM

<--- likes Griffins.

Very mild, good burn characteristics, excellent quality.

Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 maduro. mmmmmmm

whiskyb 04-23-2009 06:07 AM

Man, I love a good cigar but had to quit about 6 years back. I do not miss the cigarettes but a good cigar I still crave. Hard to give in though as I would be back on the smokes too in no time.

Cigars are so 1980's.

Mods: please move to the Goofy Nostalgia thread.

Oh man, a topic near and dear to my heart... just pulled a top five list out of the humidor:
From left to right
Romeo y Julieta Cedros Deluxe No. 3
CAO Brazilia Gol
Partagas Serie D No. 4
Padron Anniversario Maduro
El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme

These guys have competition; my humidor is down to about 300 cigars, it has been as high as 500-600 in the past.

They still make them in Miami, and it's true that most LGC lovers prefer the Miami cigars. Many retailers (Mike's, Famous Cigar) will actually list say the DR made seperately from the Miami made for this reason. The Miami made Wavell is a long-time love of mine :D
