For me it is hard to like the Indy race..turn left and go..special car for that yard and race right ?

I watched an old Clark Cable movie yesterday where he was an Indy driver. Very cool seeing a 30s or 40s Indy track & looking at it today..

I just tuned in, I don't usually watch Indy cars. I have a question. Do they ever shift gears? Or are they always in one gear?
