Oh Haha 05-28-2009 05:40 PM

Thanks Bill.

I sent my resume out to several places as well as being on the Michigan Works website.

I have an interview tomorrow morning with a vending company in the Flint area.

They purchased the rights to the franchise from my former employer.

My old manager told them about my situation and started the ball rolling.

I'm not sure what to expect. If they offer my a management position it will be hard to turn it down, depending on the salary/benefits. It would be sweet if I could write my own ticket but that's pretty far fetched.

On the plus side to being without a job is that I have ALOT of time so all of the windows and screens in the house are clean. I did inside and outside on both levels today as well as cleaning all of the gutters.

and no, I'm not coming to do your house tomorrow.:p

Darn it! I was hoping you'd cover those chores for me. J/K! I'd like to hire you but I don't think you'd like to make min wage and work pt hours. But I wouldn't have to put cameras in. Oh, I sent you a PM too about Saturday...

Good Luck on the interview!

I also figured if we were unemployed we might as well be unemployed somewhere we both would like to live. Checking out other states, sending out resumes and networking was a full time job for me. During all of that my wife got rehired by another state agency and I went into private practice. We are now making almost half of what we were in the past, but are doing ok. Keep looking and moving forward. Spend a short time feeling sorry for yourself, then start making plans.

Kurt,

Your the best! Great advice. I get back from a war and have no job. But I gotta admit, there is so much to be grateful for anyway. I am selling all kinds of stuff and doing OK. Job picture looks good. The only thing I miss is having someone, i.e. significant other or wife to share it with.

I ADMIRE your helping your wife. I am glad she has you. Let her know that I, as well as others here, are routing for the two of ya!!! So when you are old, the two of ya will be that hand holding couple that inspires us all.

The hard part is re-learning how to look for a job or work. Haven't had to do so in over 35 years. Go figure.

A tip to those thinking of relocating. Oregon's unemployment rate is second only to Michigan. Come only if you have the job lined up first.

I spent three weeks in August looking for a job in Portland, it was dead slow even back then.
