So Cal road news

Hey,
Anyone notice that a stretch of Angeles Crest Highway has reopened today?

http://www.truveo.com/angeles-crest-portion-to-reopen/id/2082131127

Not sure why the Times only spoke of the 2-wheelers expected giddiness. Be careful of the rocks. Looks like a minefield in spots when they shot the video.

That great. I fly over that road all the time and always wonder when it'll re-open for traffic.

I miss Susan Carpenter's write ups on various bikes she has tested. I doubt many could keep up with her in the twisties.

Does this have anything to do with Hwy 39 reopening?

39 has always been closed after Cystal Lake camp ground for at least 20+ years that I know of. I haven't been up there in years, and just about 9 months ago, We decided to drive up with the kids in the van just to burn some gas. There's a lock gate about 5 miles or so beyond Esat fork. Anyone know what the deal is with that? Is the camp ground close for good due to the stupid people or...?

I think that's where Jason killed all those campers in the '80s!

That's why I never camp at the toilet bowl because of Jason. If you been up there in the 80's you know what I am talking about. They have since clean it up. Heck I couldn't even drive in the early part of the 80s.
