Land of the Lost - Marathon on Sci-Fi

My god. I did not remember how bad the show was. This was Saturday morning material. No wonder our brains are mush.

It seemed cool at the time....

The Sleestacks reminded me of the creature from the black lagoon, my fave boyhood monster. That's why i liked it.

What happened to the Twilight Zone marathon? Or is that on a different holiday?

Anyways, saw a few minutes of Land of the Lost. Man, I sure remembered it differently!

The Sleestack are the only good thing about the new movie IMHO. I finished the trailers and just couldn't believe how much they deviated from the original story. The new Holly is ultra-hot though! ;)

Well, after watching a little bit of the shows, I can say that it is probably a good thing.

Looks like they intentionally went the ultra-campy comedy route with the 'remake.'

I boycott just about all remakes and sequels. Why can't Hollywood come up with some original ideas? I knew Land of the Lost was horrible when I was still watching it on tv 30+ years ago.

I caught a few shows this weekend. They didn't make any sense and the dialogue was painful. I'd forgotten about the crystals, pylons, and talking sleestak skulls. Also, the images of the actors superimposed over very small models were horrid, as was the one-frame-a-second stop-motion.

As a kid, my mom would put that show on (in the early 80's, so it was in re-runs) before preschool. I remember not liking it even then.

berettafan 05-26-2009 06:20 AM

my thoughts exactly redbeard. was shocked at how poorly done, even for it's time.

as i recall the show was on Sundays and i only watched in emergency situations (ie rainy day, skipping church, etc).

berettafan 05-26-2009 06:21 AM

so why couldn't they run a Get Smart marathon instead!

got my 4yr old watching Gilligan's Island recently (he loves it) and i KNOW he'd dig Maxwell Smart!

Sid and Marty croft had some of the worst shows on Saturday. Sigmund and the sea monsters. Something else, which was a fairy land setting, which, thank god, I remember virtually nothing.

They all used the same video/green screen setup for sets. Cheap and awful.

NICKG 05-26-2009 08:02 AM

i loved that show...i watched like 5 hours yesterday. yea, it was horrible, but I grew up watching that...it was cool to check it out as an adult
and I am actually really looking forward to the movie
