Shameless Plug
Okay, now for a moment of shameless self-promotion...
My travel guide to haunted places in the northeast, "Old Ghosts of New England," hits bookstore shelves TOMORROW. It will be sold in Borders, Barnes & Noble, the whole nine yards... but probably only in the northeast region of the U.S. It's also available (and for slightly cheaper) on Amazon.com. I will be doing book signings on Friday, June 5 at the Book Rack in Newburyport, MA, and on Wednesday, July 15, at R.J. Julia in Madison, CT (just outside of New Haven). Hopefully there will be more of these to come. Also, for those of you in CT, if you have today's Hartford Courant, there's a short article about me in the CTArts section (section G). I come off sounding like a jackass, but - hey - that's what happens in local papers sometimes. Future plans: if the ghost book sells well, I would like to put together a companion book about New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The next big step, though, is to get some fiction published. Thanks for your time and attention. Please, carry on. SmileWavy |
Very cool. I'll be back in New England towards the middle/end of August - any chance of meeting up to get a signed copy? Congrats on the publication!

Thanks, man. I welcome any opportunity to meet a fellow Pelican.

Well done.

Congtats! Too cool anytime you can get a book published & distributed like that. Hope it sells really well.

Well done! I hope to make a similar shameless plug myself one day soon.
Are you self-published, or do you have an agent and a publisher? I'm currently trying to get an agent for a book I've written. It's about the oldest bar in every state, so it's a similar genre. Of course, I'm targeting agents who prefer my genre, so your agent might be interested in my book. Perhaps a PM? BTW, the oldest tavern in Mississippi, King's Tavern, in Natchez (est. 1789), has some amazing ghost stories. I actually got chills down my spine while listening to a waitress's story. Some of the other 49 bars had ghost stories associated with them, but King's Tavern was the best. Also, the oldest tavern in PA is the General Wayne Inn (est. 1704) in Merion, just outside Philly. There are many ghost stories associated with the place. The best one concerns a Hessian soldier who was staying at the inn during the winter of 1777-78 when the British had control of the area. While in the cellar to retrieve a bottle of wine, some displeased colonists ambushed and killed the soldier, and buried him right there in the cellar. Ever since, water taps have been turned on and off at night, and objects are sometime seen flying across rooms. Ghosts just love throwing stuff. |
Awesome CJ and congrats on the publication. If you think of it send out a reminder as the date for Madison draws closer.
|
THanks for the kind words, guys.
No, it is not self-published - I was given a contract by W.W. Norton to publish under their imprint, Countryman Press (which exclusively does travel guides); so I have the corporate backing, in case I get sued or something. :) |
You have to do a book signing on a weekend. That way, we can show up and take over every space in the parking lot of the book store. :)
|
If you make it to Central NJ, there is a glowing tombstone in a local church I'll show you.....
|
Congrats man!
|
Well, there is a book signing coming up next weekend - Friday night at the Book Rack in Newburyport, MA.
Oh, and for those of you interested in reading the article about me in the Courant: http://www.facebook.com/ext/share.php?sid=103621368209&h=DqWlz&u=Sgxqp&ref=mf Be forewarned - I come off as more of a jackass than I really am! |
You must not be much of a jackass, because you were fine in the interview. Now you need to get on a local radio show.
|
^ Done and done. Went on 99.1 WPLR's morning show in order to plug the book.
|
Cool and congrats! Getting anything published is an accomplishment.
|
Any plans for a book signing at my B&N in Burlington MA?
|
^Not yet, but I'll look into it!
