Ford: the anti-smug

Got a real chuckle out of this, had to take a pic.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to capture the vast clouds of thick black smoke that spewed from those stacks when he stomped on the go-pedal. Damned cell-phone cam..

That's a Dodge, dude.

Saw something similar on an old Toyota Land Cruiser. Guy had it in really good condition, one of those that look like it belongs oin the Serengeti. On the back wheel cover it said... "Hummer Rescue Vehicle" Gave him a thumbs up.

I saw that in white vinyl on the back of a unimog.

They all look the same to me. :p

Besides, it's not really a Dodge anymore. It's a Fiat. :D

I would be real careful there my friend! Its a Dodge (and for many of us Dodge Cummins) until Fiat takes over! :)

Mine is a 2002 with the good engine in it, so is no where near being an Italian version!

It's Dooge. Fixed the "d" and that's what I made mine read years ago.

the 06-10-2009 01:22 PM

isn't that just the flip side of the same Smug Coin?

Rick Lee 06-10-2009 01:34 PM

I saw a license plate on a Hummer here a few mos. ago that read "ECOTHIS."

speeder 06-10-2009 02:23 PM

I think the whole anti-environment deal is pretty fking weird.

I know plenty of gear-heads who have no problem reconciling that w/ being an environmentalist. Nor do I. Just requires a little thought. Truck might as well say, "Thought Repelant"...

If you think Priuses are good for the environment, then you might have been inhaling some of that thought repellant. Read up on what it takes to make those batteries and how good that is for the Earth.

Which do you think is more likely, the driver of that truck hates the planet, or the driver hates self-rightous-Prius-driving asshats?

The nickel for the battery has to come from somewhere. Canada, usually. It has to be shipped to Japan, not on a sailing boat, I presume. And then it must be converted, not in a tree house, into a battery, and then that battery must be transported, not on an ox cart, to the Insight production plant in Suzuka. And then the finished car has to be shipped, not by Thor Heyerdahl, to Britain, where it can be transported, not by wind, to the home of a man with a beard who thinks he’s doing the world a favour.

Tom

I'd be willing to bet that he doesn't know any. :)

I do, and I can tell you that they were ass-hats when they were driving Tahoes 5 years ago. I don't have any particular love for Priuses, though I think that the technology is cool and merely the *tip of the spear* in smarter cars and trucks. And Jeremy Clarkson's quote is funny but he's a **** as well. Can anyone dispute this? :)

speeder 06-10-2009 03:47 PM

And anyone who modifies his newer truck to over-fuel and belch black smoke truly is an ass-hat that deserves a beating. I'll bet he biatches like hell when someone's dog takes a schit in his yard.

island911 06-10-2009 03:48 PM

What you are missing speeder, is that no one is anti-environment. This is like the Seinfeld episode w/ "WHat? you don wanto vear da rrribbon?"

The blatant display of being(feigning?) pro-environment is just as ghey as the blatant display of being pro- ...cute puppies. or some such. The guy with the truck (and trailer) is simply flipping back a little attitude.

speeder 06-10-2009 04:12 PM

Being "pro-environment" is nothing like being "pro-cute puppies" or such. That's a red-herring. And a weak one. There are entire industries and massively powerful lobbies w/ just about every GOP politician in the land in their pocket that are blatantly anti-environment, opposing any and all regulation of pollutants being released into public space as being "anti-business". What part of the air and water belonging to everyone do you not understand??

As for some Prius drivers being smug, I'm not sure how this has been so quickly discovered through the car windows of complete strangers. I can't tell a damn thing about strangers in other cars unless they are driving in a reckless/dangerous manner or blasting shytty music w/ their windows down.

Even if they are ALL smug, (quite a stretch), who gives a fuk? Are you gonna tell me that none of the fake tough-guys driving big trucks and carrying around guns on their belts in AZ. are "smug"? I'll bet they are. Who cares.

The fakest thing of all is to write-off environmental concerns of groups of people by simply assigning undesirable personality traits to its members that are all but completely made-up by the loyal opposition. It's the Rush Limbaugh school of discourse, where if you are loud and obnoxious enough, you can drown-out more rational voices and (attempt to) silence all dissent. You guys are pawns of corporate interests that would dump raw mercury in your well if it wasn't for those pesky liberal enviro-fags who "pretend" to care about the atmosphere. The world is one big twat for them to fuk in their view and you guys are the lube.

I carry a gun on my belt because I have a small pee-pee, and for no other reason, thank you. :)

Denis,

You might want to try decaf for a change. Things are getting a bit riled up on this thread.
