So is this you?
Trying to find the ignition? Dropped your cigarette? Being blown by the missus? Been waiting for a pic of you and the Bullitt for ever. I paid good money to the Oregon paparazzi for this. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1246079420.jpg |
Hoot! Putting the V-1 away, IIRC. Gee, guess I don't look like McQueen used to, huh? Gotta tell ya, this Mustang would eat the one he drove in the movie...tho I sure don't plan on making jumps in the San Francisco streets.

How about some road warrior stories?
Even if you didn't take up the challenge, at least some fun stories of your encounters with other drivers. |
No road warrior tale to relate, really...less than 500 miles on the car. On this run to the coast & back, topped up when reaching Newport...because I had to pee. Then cruised around after doing the waterfront tourist thing. Had a great run back on 34...going through my favorite twisty bits. The car guy Gods must have been smiling. I mean, after I followed a Toyota pickup for a few miles...not too closely..the guy pulled into a turnout & let me by! Virtually no traffic...loved it. Topped off when back home. 17.48 MPG. That would be closer to 20 if Oregon hadn't mandated 10% alcohol blend. Mixed highway and city driving. That is, if you can call the towns of Newport and Waldport cities. The run home felt faster than I've ever driven the stretch in the old 911S, and one hell of a lot more comfortable. No noise from the V-1.
6 CD's stacked in the player belting out oldies rock...Cindy saying how much better the Mustang seating is than the old Porsche sports seats..."no back ache"...the climate control keeping the interior perfect, etc. Forgot to add...pedals seem shifted a bit to the left. But once I got used to that, it's a very easy car to heel & toe with. No problem running the gas & the brakes at the same time when stopped on a hill. And get this...I wasn't really pushing it. Still haven't gone to redline. Most of the run was loafing along, short shifting, using 4th and 5th. Very torque laden, this V-8 of only 4.6 liters. It's just a fun car, guys...built by the only domestic car company that didn't become a willing ward of the state. Oh, guess I'll have to play a little with the radio, see if I like the Satellite portion of it enough to re-up when it expires. Anybody here have experience with that? |
HEY PWD next time the GruppO meets in Cambria you should park your Stang in THEIR parking lot...

wuz hoping you'd drive it up to Emory's today...
|
Randy...last time I went to Emorys camp-out, my car was voted "best coupe". Somehow I doubt the Mustang would be treated the same. ;) Today?...just hanging out at home with my bride from 34 years ago...today our anniversary.
(edit) If anybody at the Emory campout wishes to see my old Porsche, they can always book a flight to Istanbul... |
Future thread title on the OT:

Yeah...keep those damned 911's away from my beautiful 'Stang! It's like a friend who got out of Porsches, (when I met him it was a '73RS, when he got out of P-cars, it was a '98 C2, victimized in a hurricane flood.) then bought an AMG Mercedes said: "If I'm going to buy a watercooled car, I want one that was always watercooled." |
