MJ Memorial in LA

I am a supervisor of a "response team" and have been activated to assist in crowd control for MJ's memorial on Monday in LA. We expect a crowd of 750,000 to 1,000,000. I will be working the swing/graveyard shift with my team. It should be interesting.......

Wish me luck, David

Hopefully there's enough time to get all the tasers fully charged!

May the white glove of peace not poop in your position.

David please revisit the thread with a post memorial police perspective. That would be a good read. Good luck.

Do some of you fools think that there is going to be violence at the Michael Jackson memorial?? Crowd control nightmare, for sure, but there will be no crime other than maybe pick-pockets.

dd74 07-04-2009 02:10 AM

The only crime is the Jackson family hasn't yet offered to help pay for this memorial.

Anyway, good luck, David. Are you Hollenbeck or 77th?

I hope you are right.

Look at it this way, it will be a nice feather in your resume...

I do think that all major cities should be ready for these type of events. When I lived in NJ, I was always impressed how NYC was able to handle EVERYTHING: Macy Parade, 4th of july fireworks, PuertoRican parade, Irish parade, Brazilian parade, new years eve, world leaders all the time, etc, etc... They handled it as "business as usual" and everyone just got on with it.

LA can learn what it means to be a real City from NYC (and I am from LA - I know traitor, but I still love my Lakers!).

Um...what's not "real" about L.A. as a city?

Reality is overrated...

Beat a freak for us, ok?

Denis

I guess we'll see who the fool is on Monday.

techweenie 07-04-2009 02:38 PM

Good luck, David. Stay safe. Any big crowd like that is bound to incite a few knuckleheads...

IMO, putting the memorial downtown was a total bonehead move. It should have been somewhere in the boonies like Glen Helen Park.

What exactly is wrong with that?
