Another Best Friend (dog) gone

Today after 14+ years of companionship I had to put Chelsea, our family black lab, down. She helped my wife and I raise 3 kids (11, 9 & 5), was there at our wedding and was always there for us. She will be missed but not forgotten.

I cant believe she is gone and what a total wreck I am.

I'm sorry to hear about Chelsea. I am in the same boat, my dog Olivia is about to go down the same path. She doted over every pet we had, made sure the cats were out of the driveway when we came home. She is loved by all the neighbors. Fine friends that leave way too soon.

I'm sorry to hear the sad news.

I watched that dog movie, 'Marley and Me', last night.
I about lost it. Very sad, but real, ending.

Ahhhh man. Sorry to hear. Better to think about the great life, not the ending. It all has to end sometime.

I did the same two years ago with my terrier and again 1 month ago with Niki. They are gone but forever in our hearts.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.

Chelsea was an integral part of our family. The kids all wrote notes and drew pictures for us to take to the vet so she would have something from them when she passed. My wife has never been through the letting go of a dog and it was much more diffulcult then she ever imagined and even though I have had to do this in the past, it never gets easy. Even our cat is beside himself, as they were best of buds.

Again, thank you for letting me share some of the impact Chelsea had on my family.

We had 14+ wonderful years with her and those will be celebrated.

Dan, so sorry for your loss. Chelsea was a beautiful girl. Hooch is 10 1/2 and watching him age is tough. RIP Chelsea.

Dan, so sorry for your loss. It will get better with time, but the spot she occupies in your heart and mind will never be filled. I have a 4-1/2 year old Standard Poodle and although I thoroughly enjoy every minute with her, I have been dreading "that day" since we got her home. Kinda silly isn't it? We will be devastated when that time arrives. They quickly become like kids.

This truly has been a bad year for Pelican animals.
