Very nice video! Was that mostly second gear?
Too bad a get motion sickness just from watching it. :D |
Yea, that track was a mostly 2nd gear track. Most of the setups we run allow some third gear fun.
|
Get some better tires glen.... I was running 3rd quite a bit... ;)
|
Well ya see I DRIVE my car on the road. I don't have it trailered in. I can drive it round trip 3,000 miles and do a DE and an autocross and never touch the lug nuts or a trailer hitch. I just can't see spending 3 to 4 grand on a set of rims and some sticky tires and the effort to change tires before a autocross just for a few seconds faster time.
If you ever see my car on a trailer call the police! :) |
3rd that be to much for Markus.................

Besides, if I have a breakdown the tow bill for me would be way bigger than for yours. ;) Oh and someone has to have a trailer to haul the breakdowns home... |

I could get them all in the car though, and drive 3k miles and then swap them out. ;)

When I first started ax got a second set of rims and sticky tires. Did the tire dance and even found a battery powered impact wrench to make it easier. Sold the extra wheels and tires with the car. Kinda funny. Tax on buying a vehicle used to be based on purchase price of car so I sold the car for $5000 and the extra wheels and tires for $8000.
After that car I was happy enough to get FTD for street tires and not hassle with the tire dance. |
The Slime Cordless Air Pump works really well for airing up tires at an ax too.
|
We have cordless impacts for the shop. I just grab one of those and the 12v air compressor is always in the pickup. I'm not too much for a cordless air compressor, just another battery system to keep up with.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315948630.jpg I was watching some of the folks at the Savannah autocross do the tire dance in the 120 degree heat index temperatures. It hurt just to stand there much less swap tires. I think I would have turned into a puddle of sweat if I had tried. I did the tire dance with my 914 30 years ago. I decided then it was not worth the effort. I have not changed my mind. Not just to get another plastic trophy at the Christmas dinner. I have over a dozen of them already, and a ton more real trophies up in the attic. |

Stijn!!
Yea, I know the theory! :)
I really did not expect to go all the way around. I kept thinking I was going to save it. I got the clutch in before I went all the way around but the engine was dead. |
I did almost the same move as glen, in the same spot, but somehow I managed to get both feet in. That was a tricky spot, hard braking, and hard left....
|
glen, that is really cool. how accurate do you think the G-meter is? aren't car manufacturers pretty much chuffed if their car gets in the neighborhood of 1G (the corvette and a review in road and track comes to mind)?
|
I haven't seen how accurate the G meters are... I know I use a free one from BMW called the BMW M Meter, and pulled 1.49 at some point on the track....
