I like scientists. They question everything. Make good conversationalists.

I only wish there were more girls like you here.

Okay Vas would be proud of me. While cutting the grass I winged the top of a box turtle, removing a section of his shell. I got the turtle, cleaned the wound and fashioned a cover out of plastic to cover the wound and superglued it over the opening. Then I used some two part epoxy to seal up the edges of the repair and turned him loose at the edge of the woods.

Good going Rick. :)

I found out the battery pack is like 108V at full charge and would put out 96V at peak current with full throttle or short circuit. So 96V and 700A would be like 67 kW? I'm too tired to do the math.

Had to battle with the front brakes. One bleeder screw was rounded off and could not be moved so I had to take the banjo bolt off to get to the bleeder with a vice grips, then find a spare bleeder from a Willwood caliper that just happened to fit the Brembos, got everything buttoned back up and tried to bleed the system myself. Ended up taking the calipers off and letting the pads touch. I eventually got it to the point that the brakes will "work" but not really stop with any force. Still need more bleeding but it just was not working without the proper bleeding equipment like a proper sized clear tube and water bottle. The pedal stroke was also too short, made worse by the bias bar that meant the foot pedal stroke did not actuate the front brakes since the rear brakes were not hooked up and the bias bar simply pivoted.

Also got to do a few TIG tack welds. It looks like it will be fun to TIG weld but the nice adjustable auto-dark helmets are expensive, as is the welder and equpment. So I will need to use the Cal Poly stuff, but maybe get my own helmet.

I did some other uninteresting, simpler fab stuff as well.

vas930 04-01-2012 11:50 PM

Nice work, Max.

porsche4life 04-02-2012 12:18 AM

Max, the harbor freight auto dark helmets aren't bad for occasional use.

Flieger 04-02-2012 12:26 AM

The welder got his on eBay for $150 I think he said, vs. more than $250 at a welding supply store. His had a nice big lens with adjusters for the sensitivity and darkness of the shade. He said the best ones now have a wireless link to the welder so that they do not lighten when you are welding around a chassis tube or something where the workpiece blocks the view momentarily and you are welding by feel.

porsche4life 04-02-2012 12:29 AM

The really good ones are really pricey. But like I said for learning, get the sub 100 auto dark from HF. We use them all the time in our shop.

96*700= 67200 Watt or 67.2 kW

an engineer should do that kind of math in his sleep Max.. you know that.

That's a lot of amps for a battery...

Morning Rick. Jim

Rick, recommend poached eggs with that coffee. Absolutely enjoyed them this morning. Not planning on doing the same tomorrow though.

Rick V 04-02-2012 03:03 AM

Evening Jeff. I don't do eggs, I am allergic, however two apples and a banana were just what the Dr. ordered

Rick V 04-02-2012 03:24 AM

Okay off to work, gonna see if I can find someones ass to break in my new boots on

svandamme 04-02-2012 05:23 AM

i'de suggest you try em on my slacker co-worker
seems to have lost all motivation that boy... doesn't see work in the queue anymore.

Guess what.. i snatched everything out of the queue, and i'm gonna keep doing so till the only thing he has left is thumbs to twiddle and a career planning problem, and i don't care if that means more work for me.. i'll just do it cause i can.

That's how i roll

Sound like a rather phallic breakfast. ;)

I eat a lot of fruit as well. A couple of apples, bananas, grapes & oranges almost every day. I have been known to go to the local produce wholesale place and buy a crate of oranges. I have to split them with a friend. I can buy a crate of oranges for 20 bucks. It is probably 140 oranges in a crate.

Good morning folks!

azzarule 04-02-2012 06:27 AM

evening Gents,

sorry haven't been around for a while, been flat out doing stuff and dieing of the flu, and just busy, Internet has been playing up too keeps dropping out all the time, got the run around from the ISP and they asked me if I could plug in another modem to check to see if it was their modem that was the problem. I said yeah I'll pluck one out of my pucking ar5e and plug it in, hell you come and and plug a new modem in and check your modem is working. I hate ISP technical support ar5eholes.

So I will have to catch up on about 40 pages of stuff I have missed.
If they come out tomorrow and fix the problem. Sometime between 8 and 1600, no need to narrow it down much, I have nothing else better to do apparently!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My rant for today!!!!!!

Bet you all didn't miss a whinging woman on the forum eh?

But I also on the weekend took out two toilets and cisterns, jack hammer up floor tiles and retiled and replaced the toilets, just something to do whilst the hubby was off doing a 24 hour mountain bike ride. Had to keep busy somehow.

Time for bed, and this stupid internet connection better let me post this rant or I will not be happy

azzarule 04-02-2012 06:27 AM

yeah small miracles do happen

GH85Carrera 04-02-2012 06:36 AM
